TAMPA — With Jameis Winston already slated to start at quarterback, RT Demar Dotson will be protecting a rookie for the third time in five years.The difference between Winston and the other two — Josh Freeman in 2009 and Mike Glennon in 2013 — Dotson said, is Winston’s attitude.“He has a winning mentality,’’ Doston said. “And he comes out here and he gets us excited. He’s always pep talking. I don’t know if it’s real or not, but he’s always trying to get us going, trying to motivate us.’’Play(s) of the dayYou had to hand it to the Bucs defensive front Tuesday. It was beaten regularly during a red-zone running drill early in practice, but bounced back in a big way at the end. During an 11-on-11 period, the defense recorded two run stuffs and a tackle for loss on three consecutive plays, plus another stuff two plays later.Player of the dayVeteran CB Alterraun Verner intercepted Winston on the first play of the 11-on-11 blitz period Tuesday, and later broke up a well-thrown Winston pass by diving just in front of the intended receiver.
