When we played them again Irving had 4 carries for 36 yards at halftime. We don’t run the ball enough. Not nearly enough.

Actually the problem in this game was that Todd Bowles vaunted defense gave up 7 carries for 55 yds and 2 tds to a backup qb. LMAO

I would like for us to have a bruiser type running back to compliment Bucky. Not sure who would be out there that could fit that mold or even if it fits what Robinson will do offensively, but I think teams that have a pretty solid combo of both power and speed tend to give the other defenses more trouble and can make significant impact to help the passing game.

For now Tucker is the "bruiser" but in all honesty he is more of a slasher.  But yeah a bruising back is a better compliment to the current RB stable.

Yeah, he is more a slasher. I like Tucker and all things considered, if they went with a Tucker/Bucky/Gainwell tandem, its probably going to be relatively successful. Those guys are all different in their own way. I am a bit concerned about the blocking aspect and that tandem.

Do the Bucs keep Josh Williams as a the 4th RB seeing KG has taken away his niche? Wright and Wiley are more of the same really.

We had 6 points at half time. And that was with the Saints gifting us 3 by jumping offsides when we were punting.

Worst part about this situation is we saw one game where Tucker and Irving shared the workload. They combined for 297 yards and 3 TDs and everyone involved was like “no we don’t need to see that again, we’re good here.”

actually most people said, "can we play the Saints more often?"

One would think the Head Coach would get on that, along with getting the superstars like Sean Tucker on the field.

This is one of the few things Bowles can actually get criticized for. Most of the others are on Licht.

I think the issue is we have a RB room that have a bunch of guys that are somewhat similar and none of them (that I recall) block particularly well. This is one of the one things that White did very well at. I think it all comes down to how Robinson wants the offense to run and how the O-Line determines its blocking scheme.

KG is a pretty good blocker in his own right but KG just replaces White.  So the Bucs haven't really upgraded the RB room all that much.  Bucs probably still need a 4th RB but upgrading over Williams or Wright takes a back seat until the Bucs can sort out issues with ILB, OLB, CB, and OG.

FWIW, Gainwell is an upgrade over White  . . .and more.

Gainwell is probably not the same level of blocker, but should be more explosive/shifty as both a runner and a pass catcher.  On top of that he returns kicks and was the MVP of his team . .

For example, White's strength was receiving ... so match them up last season and you get Gainwell as the more explosive receiver. Last season he had 40 receptions for 215 yads and 5.4 average with ZERO TDs and a long reception of 18 yards.  Gainell had 73 receptions for almost 500 yards, so a 6.7 avergae, he has 3 TDs and a long recptionof 45 yards

running  . . this is a good breakdown by Balidinger of his quick feet and instincts

https://x.com/BaldyNFL/status/2032851332487409891?s=20

I would add that Gainwell is a RISING player whereas White is going backwards or having to re-establish his worth.

There actually was a quote from Evans about the 49ers high volume run game opening up 1 on 1 coverage

So we’re agreed the reason that Mike Evans isn’t in Tampa is because of Todd Bowles. Sweet.

I continue to be surprised at the simpletons that gobble up player/coach/GM-speak.

I’m not agreeing to that. Mayfield and Licht have just as much to do with it, if not more.

Where do YOU actually stand on that point?

Umm, I think I made it pretty clear.

As did the guy running the offense:

“We want to obviously get guys involved,” offensive coordinator Liam Coen said. “But Rachaad is the guy. He’s going to start the game and he’s going to keep playing, and Bucky (Irving) will get his specific stuff and be able to play. And when Sean (Tucker) needs to go in there and give those guys a blow, he’ll do a great job as well."

“Ultimately, man, it’s Rachaad’s show,” Coen said.

You clearly haven’t watched Gainwell much.  He’s an upgrade. 4.7 yards a carry behind an inferior line, is an upgrade.

I did not watch the Steelers much last year. Was there offensive scheme as bad as ours?
