Did anyone else see that the salary cap for this year will end up at 255 million?  Up from the 242-243 million that most teams were projecting.

Yep, it supposedly raises our cap space by $13m. I think the Bucs new cap space is $43m (+).

Hopefully that added cap will easily help get us closer to the price tag Evans is asking for before FA starts.

Newsflash:  It adds to everyone else's cap space too.  That means other teams can also offer more.

Ya don’t say…. Difference is Evans wants to retire a Buc.  I think if Tampa comes in at his asking price of 25 mil he puts pen to paper.  Between his loyalty, lack of state income tax, a fan base that loves him, and not having to uproot his family I think if the money matches what he was initially asking for he stays.

All good points, I’d add to your list: a team that can be competitive and get to the post-season. At this stage of his career, he wants to be able compete for significance/relavance. Yes, he wants to make money, but he’s still a Baaad Maaan on that field and he wants be a part of a team that is special, that his effort won’t be wasted.

If Mike Evans believes that the Bucs are building that, we have a chance.

bad news for a team who wants to re-sign his starting QB, top receiver, elite LT and Safety!

Or good news for a team needing to sign all of their critical FA’s.
