I watched 3-4 games and he definitely lined up primarily in the slot. Sounds like you need to go back and watch.
If he makes plays, does it really matters where he lines up as long as he lines up somewhere?

Agree. Watkins is primarily a slot guy because of his skill set and how he can be used there but can be a #2. Not sure if he can be a #1 though.
What is the earliest a slot WR has ever been drafted? Tavon Austin rode the hype to being selected no.8. He finished the year injured. 5'8" 175 lbs. He isn't awful, he had many great plays last year but those are the kinds of risks you can use a mid to late round pick on. Is Watkins really elite with his speed? The combine can't come quickly enough. Speed is everything for him because of his size.
Dude.....what are you talkin about??
He lines up everywhere...And makes plays from all of them.If Watkins is gone, Matthews or Bridgewater could legitimately get to 7. WR is deeeeep this year.

Maybe my memory is off. When I have I more time I will pick a random game from last year and see what percentage of the plays he is lined up at X Y and Z. I will post the results here.
It occurs to me that 6'1" is a lot closer to the magic, arbitrary 6'3" cutoff than it is to 5'8". Comparing Watkins to Austin seems really screwy to me.

sounds like HATE just for the sake of hating!

Common theme in this place.
Q. On Sammy Watkins MAYOCK: Watkins is a special player, and I usually don't get too excited about wide receivers in the Top 10, but this kid is different. He's physically explosive. He's got great hands. He's got good size. He's got very good speed and what I really, really liked about this kid is he's got toughness. He'll physically beat press coverage. He high points the ball. He's got a little attitude about him. He blocks people. You can see him getting pissed off during games and going after corners and safeties and linebackers. So he's got an attitude like he wants to be the best player there is, and when you combine that with his physical ability, I think it's awesome.

Also, he's smart, a workhorse, and he isn't a party guy. I truly think he could be special.

I never compared the two players. I simply said Austin was the earliest a slot WR has ever been drafted. And then gave a little analysis of how his rookie year went. Ironically, the same people who were clamoring for Austin last year are some of the same people who want Watkins at no.7 this year.

isnt a party guy? hopefully his arrest and suspension was out of character. ive been curious as to why it hasnt really been a factor in his discussion.
