Mike Evans is my favorite WR in this draft. Nothing against Watkins.
Sure his measurables are not elite maybe you do have a point but calling 6'1" short and a 34" vertical "pathetic" and white kidish is pretty weak.
34" vertical for a WR who is supposed to be a tremendous athlete is what is weak.Just wondering? He isnt going to win with speed in the NFL. How is he going to win? If you take away that advantage, which the NFL surely will then how does he win?
I don't know, skill? Route running? Body control? Anquan Boldin manages just fine and Watkins is MUCH faster than him.

6'1" is plenty tall considering the average CB is 5'10". We have enough tall guys to throw jump balls to. If we go WR why not add some speed? Then maybe our QB can throw it to someone who can get some YAC
Two things:1. As a player, I believe he's the best in this draft. Watched a ton of this kid and he's tough and electric. Any questioning of his skills as a player is weak. 2. I am concerned about character questions, as 7 is a very premium pick. The Bucs have to do their homework on this front.
This is why I dislike the combine. We all watched him all year and were blown away by his play. Now we see he's a little shorter than expected and smaller vertical and that changes what exactly? It doesn't change his production from last year. It doesn't change anything, period. The tests are for fans, the drills are for the coaches and the interviews are for the GMs. Your opinion of how good of a football player someone is should not have changed based on how fast of a 40 yard dash they ran, or standing vertical jump. Watch the film, can he play? End of story. This is so ridiculous, every year....

Thank you! Im sure Urban Meyer knows how good Watkins is regardless of combine results.
I have no idea when a 6' WR became "short", nor how at his speed LB's are gonna run him down. A couple of LB's had similar speeds to him but those speeds were not typical.I'm not a fan of WR that high in the draft and the off the field stuff is a mark against him but size and speed aren't things I would try and hold against him.
Football speed and track speed are 2 very different things. Watkins does have some red flags, but if you watch any tape of him it is obvious that speed is not one of them.

I put this in the tackle thread as well, but with more and more of these athletic freaks coming out, I think there's a backlash that's too strong against the guys who aren't freaks. Watkins isn't Calvin Johnson but he's still a damn good athlete.

Yep. And seemingly ever year there are a few "workout wonders" who improve their stock, but lately its like fans want all of them to wow people with these tests. Ill take a guy with better game tape over a guy with a faster cone drill any day of the week.
We don't need him to jump.... we need him to run.
Me thinks he will be gone before #7...if that happens we are bound to have our choice between Robinson or Matthews...either way, I am good with one of those picks.
The suspension is a legit concern. The interviews were likely quite important for him. The obsession about his measurables is just silly though. If they were genuinely deficient, it would be one thing. As is though, it's much ado about very little.
Is it Rex Chapman like? His vertical? That guy is white as hell. LMAO at the article. We have eyes genius. We can see this guy is physical and gets up there with ease to snare the leather. I despise the meat market analysts. And hindsighting.
Another thread title could have been, "I dont like this guy so Im going to make up a weak argument and call them red flags".
This right here. Didn't he say in a previous thread that, "We'd be missing out on the elite receivers of this draft if we don't get one of these 3 guys". And then proceeds to name 3 guys not named Watkins. We get it bro, you don't like him.
