It’s rare that I will announce a sure fire stud pick, but I see that in Saquon Barkley. I see a David Johnson type, with more shift and lateral agility. His receiving skills and speed make him a legit downfield wheel route threat. His blocking is dependable as hell, and he works harder than most talk about. He almost reminds me of a back that makes his tackles look better because of his uncanny burst to the edge and instant pickup.
If he is available, I would think the Bucs would be receiving a TON of calls about swapping picks. The Bucs would be wise to take the picks, in spite of the explosive quality of Barkley’s entire game. He would make the Bucs offense unbelievable. But recouping a few picks for him and stocking the lines has to have more impact. That’s the only way I see the Bucs trading that pick away for more selections.
But make no mistake, Barkley is going to be a real nightmare for linebackers. And safeties who get caught running deep with him. I just see a really good pro running back in Say Bark. Trent Richardson sucked. Not this kid tho...
He will get better with pro coaching and strength training. It’s rare that I say these things about running backs, but the kid is worth it. Damn he is filthy.
