No surprise here . . . http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/12/30/mike-shanahan-out-in-washington/ Mike Shanahan out in WashingtonPosted by Michael David Smith on December 30, 2013, 9:38 AM ESTNew York Giants v Washington RedskinsGetty ImagesAs widely expected, Mike Shanahan is out in Washington.Shanahan and his staff were officially fired this morning, the Washington Post first reported and the team has now announced. The departure of Shanahan had been expected for several weeks, as a team that made the playoffs last year and entered this year with high expectations ended up being one of the worst teams in the NFL.The question now is whether Dan Snyder can find some coach who can come in and resurrect a franchise that has only been to the playoffs once in the last six seasons. Shanahan looked like he was that coach a year ago, and now Shanahan is done. With Washington firing Shanahan, Minnesota firing Leslie Frazier, Cleveland firing Rob Chudzinski and Houston already firing Gary Kubiak, there are now four head-coaching vacancies in the NFL.
Eh, think this was a bad move personally.
Hopefully one more firing to go in Tampa. Either Dom or Schiano, both will make it a great day but I'll be happy with one.

We always seem to be the last to the party.
Shanahan has been fired. Come on Glaziers you're on deck! http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap2000000306955/article/mike-shanahan-fired-by-washington-redskins

Coach and owner were fighting and it affected the team. How can that be a bad move to part ways?

Wait 'til they hire Morris...

How was it a bad move? Shanny had 3 losing seasons out of the 4 season he has been there, also Shanny has only won 1 playoff game since winning the Super Bowl with Elway. Shanny has been living on his past success for too long imo.

I think it's a bad move because he's a good football coach.

Yep. 2 time SB champion coach vs RGMe.
Snyder is going to hire Art Briles to coddle RGMe and his dad
People can bitch and moan about the Glazers all they want. But at least we don't have Daniel Snyder as an owner.

That had nothing to do with it. Shanahan was pissed at Snyder for his relationship with RGMe as it was affecting the team. Shanahan wanted to be fired. It's hard to coach when you have one hand tied behind your back.

The move has nothing to do with how good or bad he is as a coach. It was a disagreement between coach and owner. He's still a good coach. Shanahan wanted to be fired on top of that.
