I personally would not mind if these guys came in and totally wrecked shop and put forth a 5 year plan. I think the only safe guys on the roster should be Martin/David/McCoy/Barron/Banks. I really don't like the idea of a quick fix. I think that would get us a few wins and maybe a run or two early.. but it wont create a team of depth and 10 year run like we had under Dungy. Right now we have 5 picks in this draft.. We could likely stockpile some picks by moving Revis/Joseph/Goldson(maybe)/ Jackson. All of these guys are approaching or at age 30 and have some value. I don't see any of these guys being productive 3 years from now. Why not cut bait, acquire picks, reload and build this team for a long term run. Just a thought.
That 5 year plan better involve 50 wins
lets do it. blow it up.
A 5 year rebuilding plan seems a little far fetched considering they have 4 year guaranteed contracts. As long as we keep Lavonte and McCoy...go for it.
here is another reason.our last 2 coaches got 3 years and 2 years respectively.Who the fuck is going to be ok with another 4 years of shitty performances on the field by a team with potential
This roster is badly built and constructed. This isn't just about the suck level DEs we have but places where we seem to have guys but really don't:1. OL overpaid, underperforming. Hard to fix because 4 of the 5 spots are troublesome - everyone but Dotson. 2. Safety. We have two guys who suck in coverage, basically we have two box strong safeties but no good coverage guys.3. WR. We have 2 and both guys while physically different are not complementary players. VJax and MW19 are both downfield, body control, position catcher with meh hands who aren't great route runners or dynamic after the catch guys.
KA-BOOM!
We're set at long snapper, tho'...
There's no reason to "blow it up". Continue to add pieces to the pieces that are in place
McCoy, David, Revis...only 3 that should be considered safe. Everyone else at this point is expendable in my eyes. That includes Mark Barron. That includes Doug Martin. If Trent Richardson can be had for a 1st we might be able to get at least that for Martin. No one should be safe on the 32nd ranked offense.
Yes. Bucs are about $15M under right now.1. Release Nicks. Now $17M under2. Release Joseph. Now $23M under3. Release Penn. Now $30M under4. Release Koenen. Now $33M under5. Give Revis a $30M roster bonus to make his next 2 base salaries minimum and trade him to Dallas for 2014 #1 and #2, 2015 #1. Now $19M under.6. Trade Jackson and #7 and whatever else it would take to Rams to take Clowney.. Now $24M under. After releasing Goldson in 2015 we would be over $85M under the cap with two 1st round picks, after having two #1s and two #2s in 2014.
Bucs need to trade off the overpaid players and bring in guys that can do the job for the fraction of the cost (eg OL).
We need all new shiny toys.I could see cutting Nicks, Joseph, Penn, Koenon and some dead weight but no need to blow this up. We need some work not a complete makeover.
The roster needs to be revamped, that's for sure. They are not a "few pieces" away.

This team could use lots of upgrades, but we are really only a good QB away from being a playoff team IMO
