VJax has been worth every penny we paid him.
No he hasn't
I can't wait to read why he hasn't
A WR being paid top 5 at his position but isn't putting up top 5 numbers...And he's somehow been worth $12 million a year? Yea, to Buc fans who are still accustome to mediocrity and still confuse it with excellence...I'll say this again also. Vincent Jackson had the WORST percentage of caught targets. He finished #7 in targets and #23 in receptions..But to Bucs fans, he's worth top 5 money...Makes sense.
Like I said earlier, beggars can't be choosers. If you want talent then you'll have to pay a big premium. What cheaper alternative is there to replacing Jackson? You'll be overpaying in free agency regardless of who you get. You just have to get lucky and draft someone and develop them well, but you need to actually do that first before getting rid of him. So it's pretty much a minimum of 2 years before we can get rid of him.

Yes, you've proven my point for me. He's overpaid but we have no other choice...Those saying he's "worth every penny" are only lying to themselves or as I said use to mediocrity,

Is that some sort of failed Jedi mindtrick?"We didn't overpay because we overpaid."No matter what the reason the fact remains he's overpaid and you do that often enough like we have and the roster becomes a mess.
Percentage of caught passes is low because he gets tons of jump balls thrown his way. That means nothing.

Yes I guess the dropped passes and slips has nothing to do with it...it means a ton actually.
Vjax's contract is a small worry as far as cap right now. I can think of a 8 guys I'd shed before him.PennJosephNicksMike WilliamsGoldson RevisKoenenBarth
He is the 6th highest paid receiver. In order for him to be overpaid, there needs to be at least six receivers that have outperformed him over the last three years. If there is not six or more receivers with more production, than he does indeed deserve to paid as the 6th best WR and his contract is money well spent. VJax has 3714 yards and 24 TDs over the past three years. So don't just run your mouth with nothing to back it up. If you are gonna say he is over paid, then please list the six receivers that have produced more. Otherwise stfu. I'll help you out. Calvin Johnson has been better than VJax. Now you just need five more. I'll wait.

And these parameters are set by............you? The last 3 years? Leaving out receptions, targets, and completed targets? Nice. I love your objectivity. (That last sentence was supposed to be in blue BTW)
I'm not making up some wild parameters pulled out of my ass. Yardage and TDs is pretty clear cut. That is a receivers job. If you wanna include receptions into the equation, I suppose that is fair. VJax had 210. Three years is because that is how FA works. Short term memory. You can't go back more than three seasons when negotiating a contract. 3 years is considered recent history and therefore applicable. Now quit stalling. Let's see the Free Agent receivers that have out produced VJax. Let's see why he doesn't deserve to be the 6th highest paid guy at his position.
Well Bootz, if you don't like it, give us your parameters and backing stats. I definitely think the contract evaluation period should reflect the length of contracted time, and not just what have you done this year, when there was no other legit receiving threat on the field.I am curious to see an actual dialog play out here on how this contract should be evaluated.
VJ is the best FA signing by this team since Rice. I can't believe anyone is questioning the move. He had some drops last year, but still had a solid season even in the crapstorm.

Crapstorm is important. My problem with Vincent Jackson's contract is that we've paid him over $28M since 2012 and we've gone 11-21. Not his fault, not his fault at all. But that's why I thought we should have traded him at the deadline and still think we should trade him. If we're paying a 31 year old WR $10M we better be playing deep into January, otherwise we're just pissing into the wind.
