VJax has been worth every penny we paid him.

No he hasn't

I can't wait to read why he hasn't

A WR being paid top 5 at his position but isn't putting up top 5 numbers...And he's somehow been worth $12 million a year? Yea, to Buc fans who are still accustome to mediocrity and still confuse it with excellence...I'll say this again also. Vincent Jackson had the WORST percentage of caught targets. He finished #7 in targets and #23 in receptions..But to Bucs fans, he's worth top 5 money...Makes sense.

Like I said earlier, beggars can't be choosers. If you want talent then you'll have to pay a big premium. What cheaper alternative is there to replacing Jackson? You'll be overpaying in free agency regardless of who you get. You just have to get lucky and draft someone and develop them well, but you need to actually do that first before getting rid of him. So it's pretty much a minimum of 2 years before we can get rid of him.

Is that some sort of failed Jedi mindtrick?"We didn't overpay because we overpaid."No matter what the reason the fact remains he's overpaid and you do that often enough like we have and the roster becomes a mess.

He's being overpaid relative to the rest of the league, but for us he's not being overpaid because the demand for a #1 receiver is inelastic. I would write the season off already if we just went in with Mike WIlliams and a rookie fighting for the #1 spot.

He is the 6th highest paid receiver. In order for him to be overpaid, there needs to be at least six receivers that have outperformed him over the last three years. If there is not six or more receivers with more production, than he does indeed deserve to paid as the 6th best WR and his contract is money well spent. VJax has 3714 yards and 24 TDs over the past three years. So don't just run your mouth with nothing to back it up. If you are gonna say he is over paid, then please list the six receivers that have produced more. Otherwise stfu. I'll help you out. Calvin Johnson has been better than VJax. Now you just need five more. I'll wait.

Well hell....guess i don't need to respond. **taking a seat in the waiting room**

On a side note, while looking at these stats and comparing I noticed that Jordy Nelson is the greatest bargain in football. Dude miss 4 games last year due to injury, but still has 3322 yards and 30 TDs over the last three seasons....and his four year contract averages just $3.5M per year! Wow. 2014 is the last year of his deal. Hope he gets paid. He deserves it.

Having the best QB in the league helps.8 games with Rodgers- 810 yards, 7 TDs7 games without Rodgers- 437 yards, 1 TD

Having a QB that can actually get the ball to you does usually help a WR.

No I'm not even saying he's going to get released. Or that he necessarily should be released or traded. That's highly unlikely. Yes he's the best receiver on this team. No question about that. But those saying he's "worth every penny" are only kidding themselves. He is overpaid.

Davin has sucked for at least three years and Nicks' diseased foot is falling off as we speak. Stop trying to change the subject. Let's hear why VJax is overpaid.

Hmmmmm pro bowler 3 years ago..........hurt the last 2...so your assessment is merely an opinion. So what? You said 3 years. And I already made a post saying why he's overpaid. I suggest you go back and look.

Davin's '11 pro bowl was a result of his reputation, nothing more. He had just been handed an absolutely rediculous contract by Dom, and was still riding the rep of good play that he displayed in his first few years in the league as a 1st round G. Fact is, he has been on the decline over the past 5 seasons. He is the one player who the Bucs should absolutely part ways with. There are mid-round Gs that can come in as rookies and immediately play better for a fifth of the cost.

Davin's a class act, but I agree. He hasn't lived up to the hype for years. Part of that's injuries, but guess what? That's football. I could see some uptick from last year with a year removed from the last injury, but I'm not sure why we'd expect him to get much healthier as he gets older.

Even if he was was a good player in 2011, which is not something I agree with. What about 2009-2010? He wasn't very good then. 2008 is literally the only time that he has played well, and even then he was nowhere near Nicks in his prime. Even if he does play as well as he did in 2011, that's not good enough for warrant a 6 million dollar contract. It's not a prime position, and it's one of the more easier positions to replace with an adequate player.

So the guy who has been producing year after year at a prime position is overpaid, but the guy is who one of the worst in the league at an easy position to fill (Joseph) isn't overpaid, and is not worth cutting?
