The roster needs to be revamped, that's for sure. They are not a "few pieces" away.
This team could use lots of upgrades, but we are really only a good QB away from being a playoff team IMO
Exactly.. A good QB and a pass rusher or two. They could revamp the OL with a great coach like Warhop. I would be down for that.
We're a good QB and a couple pass rushers away from making the playoffs...says every non playoff team

Couldn't disagree more. We had the 32nd ranked offense. 32 out of 32. We are not a good QB away. QB can't make up for the lack of an effective O-line. QB can't make up for receivers who can't get separation or run good routes or catch the ball consistently. And the defense is not as good as people want to believe it is.

Did you see the playcalling, the list of injuries and their replacements? Ranked 32 was bound to happen. I don't mind changing the bottom half of the roster out but last year could have been expected when we had people dropping like flies. Only great QBs and coaches could have made that work. The defense is good when you let them play to their strengths. We just need to add more pieces to that unit.
I don't know about blowing it up. Lovie is the type of guy who will rebuild as he goes and still win 10 games every year. Noway to a five year plan, but I'm all for doing as much as we can while still winning. That said, our O-line is old, over hyped, and over paid. You could definitely blow that up. I don;t think it's impossible to think we could cut Joseph, Nicks, and Zuttah.....and upgrade in FA with guys like Mack, Dietrich-Smith, and Asamoah. All better, younger options that would cost less. Joseph, Nicks, and Zuttah's combined average cap hit is $22M/yr. That is crazy money and we can do better. The secondary....that is tuff. We over paid for Goldson. I like him a lot, but he is an oldschool safety in a new school game. He's not worth anywhere near $9M a year, but we are stuck paying him that for 2014. After that he will probably be gone. Revis is awesome, but like I've said before, Lovie has had a top 10 defense for a decade without a CB like Revis. He isn't worth $16M/yr. If we could get a 1st round pick for him and replace him with two good veteran CBs like Shields and Verner (or Flowers in a trade), we'd have cap room left over and be better off. Banks hasn't impressed me, but you can't write a guy off after his rookie year. Barron is a keeper. D-line....Clayborn and McCoy are keepers...other than that they SHOULD blow it up and start over. Linebacker corps is solid. Running back corps is very solid. QB sucks. We definitely need a QB. We have one decent TE that is really a slow WR that can't block. We need a TE in the worst way. Stocker needs to go like yesterday and Crabs is fine depth. WR....this one is tough for me. VJax is awesome but old. He won't be great much longer. Mike WIll is great but he is an idiot and I feel like it's only a matter of time before he gets himself in trouble. Other than those two guys we have nothing. This draft is soooo deep at WR. It would be great if we could trade back, and trade some players to stockpile mid/late round picks and then take 3 or 4 receivers. This year provides a good opportunity to go over board and really revamp our WR corps. Blowing up the team sounds stupid....but when you look deeper, it really isn't such a bad idea.
I definitely think we are close to a playoff team, and I love guys like Goldson, Revis and Jackson . But simply making the playoffs isn't the goal. perennial playoff team with super bowl expectations is the goal. I do not think we are close to that. Making the playoffs right now with a couple added free agents is fools gold and only a coaching staff and GM with plans to use us as a stepping stone rather than creating a dynasty would go that route. we have pieces that have value today and no value tomorrow. I say lets flip that into young talent and rebuild.
IMO... The Bucs are a collection of players, not a team.

Well said man.. Lovie and Licht definitely have their work cut out for them and it' will not be easy or without painful changes to get this team where it needs to be. I am sure they will make good moves and some that blow up in their face, but we should support them and know it really will take 4 years at least to right the ship.
We just need to cut dead weight with guys that have low ceilings or not producing like Bowers, Dawson, DTN, Landri, Gibson, Shepard, Page, Larsen, Stocker, Crabtree, Leonard :( LJ... Guys like that should be replaced. We don't have to blow things up completely.
Licht appears to be much more of a "tough guy" than Dominik. I'd say he's got the brass to do it, which I doubt Dominik would... Totally agree the O'line is gonna get some serious scrutiny. With that said, I wonder if he's got sole authority over Lovie to do it?

This is my point. There doesn't seem to be any cohesion with this team. Having the top player at every position doesn't mean they will play well together. And how can you expect coaches to change the system to fit the players when the players all have different styles?
Here are the guys that I think should definitely be on our roster next year, either because they are keepers, are cheap with too much potential, or because their contract dictates it. Jonathan BanksMark BarronConner BarthAdrian ClaybornLavonte DavidDemar DotsonMason FosterDashon GoldsonDoug MartinGerald McCoyLonnie PryorBobby RaineyAkeem SpenceMike WilliamsWilliams GholstonTim WrightI count 16 guys. I'm sure you could argue for 4 more cheap potential guys, so let's say 20. That means there are 32 spots that could/should be open to change.

Craptastic coaching would make it look that way.

lol @ leaving Glennon off your list

good point, some of the same people that were pissing and moaning about the coaching and the "schemes" are now screaming that we do not have enough talent or at least enough "cohesive" talent
