Yea let’s draft an offensive skill player and then crucify Bowles for the defense
Five out of the last eight first picks have been on defense. Poor fella just can't get any help.
It’s just some miscommunication issues.
Year 8 should be season we get it fixed.
These things take time.
Yeah, but I should get a chance to keep my job since I won three straight division titles...

"The Cade Otton slander has to stop. This is not an advocacy for him as a top eight tight end in the league. But if you want the Buccaneers to move on from Otton I need to hear an upgrade plan. And that’s going to be harder than most people think.
If you want a flashy and explosive pass catcher (I’ve heard a lot about Atlanta’s Kyle Pitts in the last week with the arrival of new offensive coordinator Zac Robinson), that player will cost precious dollars that won’t go to the defense. Oh, and what’s the plan when the Bucs want to run the ball? Because that move guy ain’t blocking nearly as well as my guy, Otton."

SR's counter is funny (to me) because its only about the money but doesn't provide an actual alternative saying only there must better blocker and a better receiver. Not ONE player who is better at both?

Maybe if Otton hits the weight room and adds some bulk to hold onto the ball when it's thrown to him, and blocks a bit better...
Otherwise NO.
I don't mind Otton there is value in keeping in guy like Otton around who has also been developed in areas of his blocking. We'll see how the cap works out though i believe the cap goes up percentage every year with a 295m projected for 2026, 279m in 2025 2024 was 255m and 2023 was around 225m
So I think a 8m per year contract for Otton is a fair 2.71% of the cap
The league salary cap is projected to grow each year as our game grows
If we dont stay otton theres a few guys this draft that look solid for a tightend

Not sure he is worth the $8M per year. As an example that is what Kyle Pitts is making
some free agents available - Kyle Pitts, Dallas Goedert, Isaiah Likely, David Njoku, Darren Waller, etc
to me, Otton is an easily replaceable guy
Pitts would be top target, Likely a sleeper, and the other guys past their prime but maybe better options that bumbling, stumbling INT machine Otton

I am not an Otton homer. If he was easy to replace SR probably names a couple replacement. He suggested it might take two players. Not because Otton is great but because he does do both which itself an advantage over 2.
I can imagine the Bucs keeping him if they can. Especially true given other needs.
You gotta have tight ends. Otton is a good #2 TE. He was a 4th round pick. The fact that we don't have a #1 is not his fault, and the Bucs don't have to pay him like one either. If we can slot him in for $6 or $7 mil that's great. Noah Gray makes $6 mil for example. If Otton is going to get $10 mil or more on the market then you have to let him walk and go the free agent route.
Otton is a JAG.
Can replace him in the draft.

I dont think any of us are otton homers, but I think its just we have bias that we get to see more bucs game. But Otton was 572 #15 in receiving yards for tightends this year and I think he was #16 the year before with 600. I think he has made improvements so as long as he continues developing he can find a role. We can't find a top 10 guy at every position so for what otton does its reasonable given the expectation.
One avenue I would like to explore is the mcvay 13 personnel he runs in goalline with 3 tightnends having culp/Kieft, durham, otton and mike on the outside. Mike can run the fade or the slant depending on corner leverage and keep heavy personnel as usually teams will man up in those heavy formations. Which is what we saw Rams do most of last season, even against us for a couple of td's with Adams instead of Mike
You gotta say Otton caught the ball in some tough spots. Nobody catches them all, but he usually did and usually he was getting hit pretty good. He certainly isn't flashy and he isn't a Mack Truck. He wasn't great, but he was pretty dependable.
otton sucks...loser

He's barely a JAG. Get the comp pick
what would that be?
JQ;s comment on the draft option
"If your answer is finding Otton’s replacement in the draft. That’s a big resource to replace a complete player. Likely a first- or second-rounder. In the last three years, only one tight end drafted outside of the first round has stepped in as a rookie and played at a high level as a complete player. That was Chargers tight end Oronde Gadsden II."
Otton is sort of middle of the pack and he does both things which give the offense versatility. Not that easy to replace
