the combine's number one purpose is to do full medicals on each player. The drills are just secondary.
Maybe. Who would have thought the draft would have been the event it is now.
exactly
the combine's number one purpose is to do full medicals on each player.
that was origin, I believe, but the medical and the drills take a back seat to revenue/marketing now

the point of this thread is someone asking if the players should be forced to do the drills... im saying all participants do the medicals and that is all the teams really care about. The workouts are secondary because they dont require doctors and MRI machines and all that stuff. With the combine they bring their doctors down to one location and do all the medical exams at once. Then they send scouts and coaches to the pro days and stuff to watch the workouts. So basically my point is they will not force players to work out because that is not the primary reason for the combine.

Exactly. The teams are getting what they want from medical exams and interviews. The workouts are just fluff. If you're between two guys you can look and say, "Oh this one did 23 reps and this one did 24," but the info teams gather is much more comprehensive than combine workouts in the latest Under Armor fashions.
