Should we be concerned about Bucky Irving’s shoulder?

The latest buzz on Baker is that he’s at his best hitting the open receiver, whomever it is, I have seen him try feeding specific receivers (OBJ, M1K3, Mek). He doesn’t seem comfortable nor play as well when he does that.

Although, last season not having any of the starting offensive line starting together in the same game, makes any analysis of his play difficult. Also allows for the development of bad habits. Good to hear that he’s been working on his footwork.

I mean, isn't that most QBs?

I just think Mayfield is at his best spreading the ball around and not feeding a particular WR.

The first 7 games of the 2024 says this is totally incorrect.

We are talking about 2025 and the 6-2 run.

Also Cohen designed to feed Godwin the slot in 2024 as it was talked about throughout the 2024 off season leading into the season and not really Mayfield going out of his way to look for Godwin IMVHO.  But if you look at the 2023 season Mayfield's best game was against the Packers and as he hit 7 different receivers in that game.  Godwin still received the lion share of pass attempts but Mayfield was in the zone looking for anybody and everybody in that game.  That was his signature game in 2023 and I felt like he was back in that zone with the 2025 early run too.

Probably, unless you’ve got Mike Evans (or Randy Moss) 1 on 1.

I thought that worked pretty well…especially since the scheme was designed to take advantage of the slot.

good points

So many positives with Mayfield in the Cohen offense in 2024.

Successful run game keeping defense off balance, healthy line, shorter rhythm passing etc.

Not sure we see that again, but something between 2023 and 2024 would be good

I think Robinson will feature Godwin in the slot too because he never had a WR of that caliber as a slot WR like Godwin.  My concern with Robinson is that if he insists on playing so much 12 personnel that to keep Godwin or any of the talented WRs off the field.  Otton and Durham are fine to use for 12 personnel to establish the run which Robinson has said that is his intent.  But to really score points it has to come from formations that feature slot WR and allow any combination of 3 talented WRs the Bucs have to be on the field for those mismatches.

To me Mayfield looked scattershot with option routes outside the hashes toward of last season and looked better on routes that were between the hashes.  Plus Mayfield trust Godwin in the middle of the field so this is obvious what will or should happen.

It's speculation but his velocity looked weak the back half of the year. If the shoulder was limiting his strength it's easy to see why he'd be gun shy trying to throw is short windows.

And Grizz didn't run a ton of easy concept quick reads to find him rhythm.

Paying Baker after a Grizz year is yet another example of it being impossible to assess the talent and performance last year.

I was losing my fucking mind with the 20 yards air yards to hit a small out route window throw for a 6 yard gain.

Grizz truly was clueless

Canales and Coen would run out routes but they were shortened which were fine and less likely to be jumped by defenders.  I just think Mayfield even on the boundary has trusted Godwin as well more so than Evans or Egbuka on those option routes.  It felt during the skid that Mayfield was not in synch with Evans or Egbuka on those options routes and contributed to the offense losing momentum and being able to move those chains.

Looks good and I think they are just going to be extra careful seeing they want to see how the backup situation beyond KG shakes out with the rest of the backs.

Any RB at his size will always have injury concerns. But the chicken little stuff about it was silly
