I think you saying the QB is a push is being generous to Baker Mayfield.Go compare our roster to the Lions for example. We are more talented.

The final ESPN QBR rankings had Goff at 11 and Mayfield at 18.
Try clicking on the 'Postseason' button while you're visiting ESPN's NFL stats page for Passing.
Baker is 10th in Completion%.
4th in total yards
2nd in Y/A
3rd in Yards/GM
2nd in Longest Pass Completed
Tied 1st for Most TDs (Mahomes)
10th in QBR
4th in Passer Rating
You know how many times Goff is ahead of Baker in those stats? Three times. Completion% (69.4% vs. 62.3%), Total Yards (837yds/686yds), and QBR (65.9/49.3). And Goff had the advantage of an extra game.
Jared Goff's stats on PFR: https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/G/GoffJa00.htm
Baker Mayfield's stats on PFR: https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/M/MayfBa00.htm
Go ahead and compare/contrast their stats for 2023. Check out their Completion%, TD/INT ratios, Success%, Y/A, Passer Rating, check out their 'Advanced Passing' numbers, whatever.
Now, click on the playoff button for both players and tell me they're that far apart. Again, not saying Baker is a whole lot better than Goff in 2023, but Baker also didn't have the advantage of the same offense for two plus years, the same HC and OC for two or three years, the chemistry that comes with playing with the same teammates for two plus years, etc. And as illustrated by ESPN's NFL Postseason 2023 stat page, in the playoffs Baker was actually better statistically in 5-of-8 of those stat lines I listed above. Without the benefit of all that stability/continuity and a seasoned OC designing/calling the plays.
At the end of the day, they aren't that far apart. And in several respects Baker was actually better.
I think you saying the QB is a push is being generous to Baker Mayfield.

I think Goff is overrated. He's had the extreme benefit of having two excellent playcallers in the NFL (McVay & Johnson) for the overwhelming majority of his career. He's great in shorts, i.e. tall, big arm, accurate, etc.. But he's not the most cerebral guy out there.
I would say Goff has been a little more consistent, but that's about the main thing I can say for him over Mayfield. If there is a difference overall, it ain't much. If you polled all 32 GM's in the league and asked them which QB they would prefer, I would guess the split would be pretty close.
Agree, and you’re not elevating Baker to make that case…I think you saying the QB is a push is being generous to Baker Mayfield.
