I hope that whomever it is...like Coen...they DEMAND the GM be fired as well before taking the job. We need Loser Licht outta here if we want to win. The GM has over a hundred losses...it is time to find NEW BLOOD.
Simple solution: Licht hires the DC.I personally would go Shula, Kubiack, Minter in that order, I would avoid Riley like the plague the man couldn't hire a competent DC in college what makes anyone think he would hire on in the NFL
I don't see Riley agreeing to something like that, he has a cush contract at USC with a huge buyout which is why he hasn't been fired yet even though the Trojan fanbase has been calling for his head the last two seasons, plus he has the #1 recruiting class coming in so I only see him leaving is to a place he has say in not only his staff but roster as well.
Yeah, you aren't wrong, Trask. The Glazers (when they decide to make a move) usually make it. I just think they will be a little reserved about doing that knowing what it will cost them and the outcome. You are also right in the scenario that if another team chose to pick him up as a DC, they could be on the hook for some salary. That said, I cannot imagine any team wanting his antiquated defensive style in this new NFL league. It doesn't work.$9 mil or whatever that's down the drain is a drop in the bucket. But it may be about more than money. If Licht lobbied for the Bowles extension, then it may be the Glazers telling Licht in so many words "You wanted this. You wanted to keep Bowles over Coen. Now own it. Make it work." But I don't think the Glazers will be like that. They want to win and that's more important than proving a point with Licht. Stuff happens in the NFL and you have to react. They didn't react with Coen and it cost them. They can eat the Bowles' money or kick him into the front office. That way if any other team wants to hire him as DC they will have to possibly pay a portion of the salary. In any case Licht has owned his mistakes in the past. He had no choice but to extend Bowles or have him be a lame duck. So now he has to own that decision and go forward in the best way possible from here. It's not going to be Riley or Day....smh.
I really think because of the structure of Toilet Bowles contract extension, he sticks around and I think the Glazers and Licht pick a new OC and DC to run both sides of the ball in spite of Bowles. It is clearly obvious that Bowles cannot lead a football team. He couldn't do it in NY. He can't do it here. I think he is a lame duck for one more season but if one thing was clear this season: he has lost that locker room and the only thing that will save him is that contract extension.
SR said today that the Bowles contract is likely 2 years plus an option. Two years left is not an unusual HC fire and its pennies in the grand scheme of things

bowles deserve to keep job after this collapse? Whole body of work, 4 years with a .500 record
My Carnac the Magnificent prediction:
Bowles is kicked up into the front office to work off the rest of his ridiculous contract.
Mike McCarthy is hired as the new Bucs HC, and he cleans house and brings in his own hand-picked staff.
Bucs players are thrilled because they get to play for a coach and staff who know what the fuck they are doing.
Mike McCarthy is hired as the new Bucs HC,
This is never ever going to happen. McCarthy is not being considered at one buc.
Raheem Morris is fired.

would you be willing to friendly wager on any of that actually happening?
you could be right on Bowles but I would think it's more likely he retires. Maybe Arians gives up his VP role for Bowles, who knows?
McCarthy has got to a long shot.
Matt Ryan is coming in as the GM
