That's their opinion of his 'value' not what he'll actually get. "While it may seem outrageous to assume the Texans or any team might actually make an offer this high - we're simply determining the true value of Watt at this moment in time - as outrageous as it may result in."
Agreed. That may be his "true value" just like LeBron James' true value would probably be $50-60 million per year. But that doesn't mean he'll get it.
unless we talk about a Top QB you should never throw to a player more than 10% per year of the salary cap... no matter how good he's... this is a team sport!

I could see him end up getting 6 for 120m
I'd be shocked if he exceeds $108M for 6 years.
If Suh hits free agency I can see $150M. The only thing that could keep Watt's contract is check is that the franchise tag is in play for him.

You're really going to call him out on his math while posting that garbage?Considering 10% of $123 million would be $12.3 million how exactly does your genius mind figure $16 million to be less than 10%.

Oh, so you don't understand how guarantees and bonuses and stuff work. Gotcha. Nevermind, I mistakenly thought I was talking to someone who understands salary structures
Please Keep in Mind...As we begin our assessment of a potential extesion for J.J. Watt it is important to keep in mind that are results are based purely on mathematical equations. Our expectations in terms of these forecasts are to compare a player to his like-colleagues in terms of the money they make, and their statistical production. Because Watt is producing statistically at such a high level, we expect a VERY large number to come forward at the bottom of this projection. While it may seem outrageous to assume the Texans or any team might actually make an offer this high - we're simply determining the true value of Watt at this moment in time - as outrageous as it may result in.
Revis actually makes 13 mill a year
Another genius appears....

I'm asking because I'm curious. Where the Revis = 13% of the cap comes from? What math was used to come up with that. I'm not a huge salary cap guy.I did $123m divided by $16m which = 7.6%. The $16m includes the bonuses and he has no guarantees. Not saying you're wrong, I just don't really understand

123 divided by 16 isn't percentage, it's just how many times 16 goes into 123. 7.6 times. 16 divided by 123 is percentage. 0.13 = 13%

Revis contract has no guarantees and the number includes the bonuses so you are still talking out your butt hole.I mistakenly thought I was talking to somebody who knew the actual contract details before trying to correct others. You want to dig that hole a little deeper while trying to come up with another poor "reason" why your math is so bad?Cap Hit ($13 million salary+$1.5 million roster bonus+$1.5 million workout bonus) divided by salary cap ($123 million) = Revis taking up just over 13% of the cap. There is no arguing that, those are the numbers, you were being obnoxious while trying to incorrectly correct somebody else.
