unless we talk about a Top QB you should never throw to a player more than 10% per year of the salary cap... no matter how good he's... this is a team sport!
Agreed. The Bucs salary structure is a disasterRevis- 13%McCoy- 12.7%Jackson- 10.1%Nicks on the team- 7.6%Nicks off the team- 5.8%Goldson- 7.3%We're going to have 5 players taking up 49% of the salary cap and one of them isn't even going to be on the team.
2013 Salary cap: 123 millionRevis' salary: 16 millionActual amount of the cap: 7.6%Not only are you a **CENSORED**ty troll, you suck at math big time.
You're really going to call him out on his math while posting that garbage?Considering 10% of $123 million would be $12.3 million how exactly does your genius mind figure $16 million to be less than 10%.
Oh, so you don't understand how guarantees and bonuses and stuff work. Gotcha. Nevermind, I mistakenly thought I was talking to someone who understands salary structures
In all sincerity, please explain it to me then. I was under the impression that Revis' contract didn't have any prorated bonuses and that his cap hit was actually $16 million per year.
I'm asking because I'm curious. Where the Revis = 13% of the cap comes from? What math was used to come up with that. I'm not a huge salary cap guy.I did $123m divided by $16m which = 7.6%. The $16m includes the bonuses and he has no guarantees. Not saying you're wrong, I just don't really understand
123 divided by 16 isn't percentage, it's just how many times 16 goes into 123. 7.6 times. 16 divided by 123 is percentage. 0.13 = 13%
HE'S A WITCH! BURN HIM!No, that makes sense. Thanks man. Sad thing is I work with percentages every day, but my computer does all the math.
OMG...the simple math EPIC FAIL on this thread is crazy.

No dude, its you who doesn't know how math works.
The salary cap hasn't gone up very much in recent years. So its going to keep these salaries from getting out of control. No one in the NFL is going to pay Watt or Suh 150 mil. That's just not going to happen. You may think those players are worth that much or may even demand that much, but it's the market that sets their worth. And no team will pay that much money, especially to non-QBs.

Gotdamn someone got pwned in this thread!

Working on his extension now, which by your account should be around $20 million per season.

Doing it now gives them a little bit of a discount because he's still a year away from free agency. I'd say 7 years, $105M.

The cap gets a decent bump in 2015 I believe.

I would be all for extending McCoy this offseason and playing the same game. I still think $15 mil a year (your number) is still going to be a little too high for what he actually gets, and I dont think the contract will be as long as 7 years (of course they probably pay out all the guarantees by the 5th year anyway to leave them options). My guess is 5 years $67.5 million (13.5 per avg) with about $40 mil guaranteed.

That's what I think it's going to be.
Just move Akeem Spence to UT. Problem solved. Now someone pass the Dorito's and Visene.
Gholston is a beast at UT. Who knows what he could do full time, but after I saw his get-up I was saying they should put him at UT and they did right after that in the last pre season game and he had like 2-3 sacks. Gholston is not going to be McCoy, though. It has taken McCoy 4 years to get to where he is now. Gholston is good depth though. We really need to sign McCoy. And I totally 100% agree we cannot afford a $16 million corner and we don't need one, either. We do need McCoy.
