This is a bad move by both Head Coach and GM. This move wreaks of "I'm trying to save my job" both from the coaching standpoint (hot seat) and the GM standpoint (contract year). It is the most short sighted move I have seen this season, outside of trying to start Winston when he was clearly hurt earlier this season and re-injured the same shoulder.

Winston is the Franchise QB and the Future of this franchise (as of today)... What is not clear is Dirk Koetter or Jason Licht the future at HC and GM?

One thing is for sure both HC and GM are facing pressure to put up wins to "possibly" retain their jobs. We just sent 2 starting linemen to IR... 2 Linemen that were not able to keep Jameis upright to begin with. We are literally jeopardizing our franchise QB's health and safety to "MAYBE" save a HC and GM.

If Jason Licht was a real GM he would have already had a meeting with the Glazers and said we are going to shut Jameis down for the season, regardless of my contract situation. I want a new contract, but the new contract means nothing without a healthy Jameis Winston. (simple) Roll with Fitz and let the wins and losses fall where they may. These short sighted moves are going to put us in a bad position more likely than not.

Best case scenario: We win out, finish 9-7, and good fortune has this wildcard race break in our favor and we back into the playoffs and make a run for more.

Worst case scenario: Jameis Winston sustains another blow to his already injured throwing shoulder which ends up sending him to IR and requiring surgery which could Jeopardize his playing future... we win maybe 2 or 3 more games... finish 6-10 or 7-9... miss the playoffs. Coach and GM are both fired. We fail to attract a top notch coach... so we settle for another rising stock position coach or coordinator that's in over their heads and miss the playoffs for another decade. (Or another college coach) And everyone are singing the "what could have been's" about Jameis Winston...

Or somewhere in between those two extreme scenarios... As a long time fan. It's not worth the risk to Jameis Winston. Shut it down... be smart. We've been garbage for the better (worst) part of these last 10 years... what's number 11?

Again this move wreaks of desperation and short sight. Jameis is going to play because he wants to play and he is a football player at heart... But this is where real LEADERS IN THE FRONT OFFICE STEP UP AND MAKE A BUSINESS LEADERSHIP DECISION. Stop trying to save your own ass Jason Licht and save the franchise... If you did that maybe you wouldn't be in the hot seat.
