I was feeling pretty confident with Trask as the backup until now. And now I'm not so sure

If Trask can't beat out Bridgewater then holy shit.

Good lord what an awful fucking pick by Licht. That draft class is dog shit. Got high on his own supply .

it was such a bad draft, it prevented us from repeating as Champs.

JTR, a kick returner, and a known back up QB at the time.  like wtf - imagine if the kick returner or back up QB pick were an OL or WR at a time where we were down AB, Godwin, and Wirfs against the Rams.

yeah judging by Licht's comments (paraphrasing) "Trask is our back-up....i mean for now, we didn't even play any games yet so we will see" basically tells me that Teddy was promised a real opportunity to be our #2 guy

i was confident with Trask as back-up since hes been with the team and knows the players and playbook but not so confident if Baker were to miss several games. They must have seen something else in practice so make them get a higher end back-up here

so many other camp arms they could have gotten with Pratt on PUP that wouldnt have been a threat to Trask....so this definitely just isn't a shrug your shoulders signing.  Trask could be in danger of getting cut or practice squaded.

obviously you can't go back in time and plug and play but the draft added no value and we knew it at the time.  Could have used depth at OT, WR, and CB.  I dont think many except for blind homers thought that Darden or Trask were good picks at the time.

who was starting opposite Evans in the Rams playoff loss?  What we have the likes of Scotty Miller and Tyler Johnson?

and i forgot who we had behind Wirfs back then.  was it Josh Wells?

so let's say hypothetically, instead of Trask, they went with WR Nico Collins or OT Spencer Brown?

and listen nobody is clairvoyant that they can see AB turning into AB or that injuries to Wirfs or Godwin happening but still my overstatement was geared towards just how brutal that draft was and that depth would have served us well given the injuries that year.

Hell, it was a kicker and longer snapper away from being the worst draft in history :)

Cool story.

And, while it was clearly a bad draft, it didn’t “prevent us from repeating as champs”.
