Great to just have the competition.  If Teddy wins it, then as others have said the Raiders might pick up Trask, but other than that hes got to be done as a potential starter/solid #2 because he comes in with all the advantages and loses to an experienced guy, but a guy that was coaching high school?

Even less on an expert on QB2 than Fire lol, but it seems Trask should have the lead because

Interesting day for Trask because he enters the last preseason game with his coach saying "nothing decided,: but then put up solid (if not great) numbers.

Who would be better suited to hold the Bucs steady with mayfield down? How about to win?

not sure how Teddy's "sickness" plays into all of this

neither has thrown a meaningful pass in the last 2 seasons

the difference is one has 75 career touchdown passes and actually boast a winning record as QB (33-32)

The Bucs are in a world of hurt if mayfield goes down, but im pretty confident, they would roll with Teddy to start if that were to happen (and assuming in playoff contention)

with the sickness and whole guaranteed contract thing, i thought maybe Bridgewater could start on P/S and then be elevated in week 2; but with all these back-up QBs being traded, i just dont know if they take the chance.

Put it this way, if Teddy is #2 to start the year, meaning this week; then one thing is for sure; there was no competition and Teddy was signed to be #2.  Teddy has a good showing in game 2 but the writing was clearly on the wall as i anticipated.

in terms of Trask, i think it came down to pedigree and what Bridgewater has accomplished in this league already.  The Bucs ain't running a school here and Trask unfortunately can only show so much in practice and scrimmages. The dude had to be next level great in practice and we are talking about the 64th pick in the draft, just was never reasonable for the guy.

Part of what makes the call between the two so interesting.

Trask had a great opportunity against the Bills and he did okay. He managed the offense etc., but really nothing special.

So, you contrast that with Teddy's one performance and maybe its a  "win now" versus "slow but steady wins the race" choice?
