Coming out of college, there do seem to be a lot of similarities between Tet & Mike Evans…

If Reddick proves it this season, and another year for Diaby, Kancey, (ok, maybe I’ll include Braswell)… along with Vita in the middle - it puts Reddick in the absolute best position to do just that - but if that happens it also allows us to “fix” the defense in one year. Drafting some high round DB’s would duplicate what we did in the SB run.

…so, for that reason, I really hope we don’t have the temptation of Tet being there at 19…

Bucs tend to draft DBs in round 2 and 3 so if they choose to do a double dip they can still go Tet and then draft DBs in rounds 2 and 3.  But the downside is they are punting on addressing edge to next off season.

Could be, but some of those 1st round DB’s could make us special, while adding some legit depth again in round 3 & 4.

Still could get the burner WR we could really use this season, without adding a Mike Evans-like player at 19.

But I wouldn’t hate it.

While I’ve acknowledged the similarities- I have to point out the inconsistencies. Mike Evans was aggressive, characterized as a “hothead” in his pre-draft bio. You saw that play out early in his career, especially against Lattimore - but that aggression, do-anything-you-have to win/protect your guys. Never a hint of that with Tet.

To go along with the different mental make-up, Tet is also 20 lbs lighter than Mike was, coming into the league, and 4” shorter arms. Those contested catches he was known for in college will be a lot tougher against NFL LB/DB’s - and his lighter frame will cause more jambs at the LOS.

Tet’s college production isn’t in question, maybe that will carry into the NFL - but Mike Evans is a special cat. Not sure lightning strikes the same team twice like that?

Like I said, I’d prefer we not have that temptation at #19…. We need some specific help in the first, that needs to be on the field this season… w/Mike, Chris, and JMac already on the field, don’t know where you’d put him?

Hed be a luxury in case of injury to one of them… but you can’t have your number 1 draft pick as your “just-in-case” option.

No, secondary at 19 has to be the play.

Mike Evans is a special cat.

In so many ways.

Its been great to watch him evolve from, as you say, a bit of a talented hot head into an all-around professional.

If Tet is available at 19, he’s easily the BPA (barring something crazy).

You take him.

Exactly. And it would be unorthodox but that's soooo many weapons we'd have.

Defense would continue to be overmatched but we could go all defense the rest of the draft

are there any other offensive players beside Tet where you take them at 19 if they fall to us? or, just Tet?

Evans not getting any younger. Godwin coming back from major injury (Thanks Todd) and not getting any younger.

Not saying we “target” him in the draft, but if he falls to us, I wouldn’t be mad at the decision to take him.

Well, if Golden, Burden, Tet, or even Egbuka, fell to #19, all would be worthy of consideration.

Would LOVE the outside speed of some of them, others would be amazing additions to backstop aging stars, but not all of them would immediately be installed as full time starters. Personally though, I could only justify the Bucs taking a burner at #19.

I’d prefer the player who checks all the boxes.

Tet’s that guy.

He's going to be a star so long as he isn't a diva.

Like everyone else I think we know we need defense but long term we need star power.

Tet being a star is far more likely than the ends we have a chance at with pick 19.

Tet will be long gone tho...

Agree, to me though, Tet is to Mike - like Egbuka is to Godwin.

Its wild.

But getting Luther Burden III, later, could be just as nice.
