When I compare the two QBs this is what I think of. Jameious Winston:Pros: Played NFL pro offense in college. Only lost one game.Confident and outspoken leader Great armAccurate Won a national championshipCome from behind abilityCons: Character concerns (alleged rapist, lots of negative incidents, and was suspended a game)Could still play baseballTurnovers Marcus Mariota: Pros: Athletic Great character Smart Won lots of games AccurateNot many interceptionsCons: Came from Oregon offense Is a quiet leader FumblesThis is what I gather so far about the two prospects. I've said many times I think both can be great players and would be pleased with either guy. I've also said many times who I prefer. For me it's very simple. The key word for me is potential. Both have potential to be great QBs. But there's one potential that frightens me. That is that Winston has potential to do something dumb. Let's put our biases aside and admit that Winston has this potential. Now my big question is Winston that much better than Mariota that we have to take him regardless of this potential?? I guarantee you this will be the question the Buccaneers will be asking themselves all the way until the draft. For me Mariota isn't very far off from Winston as far as potential for being a really good qb in the NFL. In fact I think that if he can prove that he can run an NFL offense that he has more potential than Winston because he has a dimension to his game that Winston does not. His athletics makes up for his arm not being as good as Winston. And Mariota still has a pretty good arm. For me I'd rather have a guy without potential to be a disappointment in the character side of things. Which is just embarrassing when a player on your team is in that kind of situation. If you don't think he will have this problem good for you. For me it just scares me to death. I'll be wondering what L & L think for the next few months.
