Tampa Bay Buccaneers not likely to cut Mike Williams By Josh Hill - Feb 5th, 2014 at 12:07 pmOct 20, 2013; Atlanta, GA. Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Greg Schiano talks to wide receiver Mike Williams (19) in the game against the Atlanta Falcons during the first half at the Georgia Dome. The Falcons defeated the Buccaneers 31-23. Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports The NFL offseason is officially upon us as all the games on the 2013 schedule have been played and a new Super Bowl champion has been crowned. Now that the Seahawks are kings of the NFL, the other 31 teams in the league are looking at ways they can dethrone them in the 2014 season. One team that could be a sleeper are the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, as head coach Lovie Smith is inheriting a wildly talented roster that just needs to develop. Mike Williams is a receiver the Buccaneers have been hoping would develop, but his commitment to the team has been questioned in recent weeks thanks to reports that the Greg Schiano regime was preparing to cut him this offseason. The Lovie Smith regime is planning on doing no such thing as the move would cost the Bucs around $6.4 million, according to Pat Yasinkas from ESPN.com. That right there gives fans a good idea of how ruthlessly clueless the last regime was as a $6.4 million cap hit is a huge figure, and it’s one that will motivate the Buccaneers to try and turn their deep threat around in 2014 rather than let him twist in the wind like the old regime did. http://fansided.com/2014/02/05/nfl-free-agency-2014-tampa-bay-buccaneers-cut-mike-williams/?utm_source=FanSided&utm_medium=Network&utm_campaign=Around%20the%20Network#!uxxJp
I doubt Lovie would just up and cut Williams, and not convinced Schiano/Dom would have actually done it either . They probably thought about it tho'... The Bucs' new receivers coach has an interesting interview on Buccaneers.com; sounds like a serious, cerebral kinda guy...
Still disagree with giving him an extension rather than dealing him. Will be interesting to see how he performs in the new offense.

He is a good #2, I don't think he could be a #1 on another team, or even here, if Vincent retires after a couple more seasons. It will speak volumes if they draft a WR in May.
