I'm on board big time.
I think if Joyner is available in the second he would be a great fit. He would compliment the other pieces in the backfield very well because he's an inside guy who tackles well and makes plays on the ball. Putting him in the slot or a nickel safety kind of the way that we used three safeties in the past. I think that he would be a great pick even if we get Tillman. He would be a 5th or 6th DB that can play all over field. I saw an article the other day talking about the bucs drafting OLB Khalil Mack because OLB is a need. However, Leonard Johnson played twice as many snaps as the combination of Watson/Casillas last year and Johnson is a liability. Although I think that Mack would be a significant upgrade over our SLB from last year an upgrade at Nickel would have more significant impact due to the number of snaps they are on the field. Lovies D has never been about blitzing OLBs. Its about playmakers with speed who can tackle.
Also, one thing I really liked about the Licht hire at GM is that he had the balls to draft Tyrann Mathieu last year and I think Joyner could be another "too small" DB that could be a big playmaker for the Bucs.
kid def doesnt hit like a small db...lays the wood
I agree his tape shows he'd be a good fit for the 'star' back we use thats sort of a hybrid nickel/safety/linebacker/corner. However I'm not sure he has the coverage skills to play on the outside, and from the tape I've watched of him at free safety in 2012, I don't think he's a great fit there. Despite his elite ball skills, he seemed too hesitant at times, in coverage and when coming back to tacke ball carriers. IMO he needs to stay closer to the line of scrimmage if he wants to be succesful, thats where his phisicality and nose for the ball shine the most. Also his #20 is probably to blame, but he sure reminds me of a lot of ronde, strengths and weaknesses.

It goes without saying Ronde 2.0
I would love the pick, because I see Ronde as well. However, It has nothing to do with the #20. He is a play maker all over the field and I feel he and Honey Badger are similar enough, so seeing how Mathieu did in Arizona last year. I'd love to have Joyner.
I love Joyner, but I wouldn't take him before the 3rd round. He is small and just because the Honey Badger had a year of success in the NFL, doesn't mean that is the norm. He could just as easily end up being the next Bob Sanders. I think the risk meets reward in the 3rd.
So he will be one of the best safeties in a long time? Even more intriguing than the Badger. You're right.

I agree with this. Unfortunately, even if we did acquire a 3rd, I think someone else will take him in the 2nd (maybe even 1st). As they always say, it only takes one team to fall in love. In fact the thought that gives me nightmares is that the Cowgirls take Aaron Donald in the 1st and Joyner in the 2nd. That could go a long way in improving Marinelli's defense.
Wouldn't mind him 1 bit. For the record does everyone seriously think we're drafting Mack to be a Olb he's a 4-3 end that's what we'd draft him for....

I think he'll be looked at more as a nickel corner than a safety....which could make him drop to the 3rd round or later. Quite a few really good CBs this year.

Yeah, he's a good striker, but I'm not sure he's a good cover-guy.
No.
