I love Joyner, but I wouldn't take him before the 3rd round. He is small and just because the Honey Badger had a year of success in the NFL, doesn't mean that is the norm. He could just as easily end up being the next Bob Sanders. I think the risk meets reward in the 3rd.

Just because a guy with similar size had success, we shouldn't want the Bucs to draft him? Sorry I'm confused.Joyner is his own player. I personally see a football player that is versatile and extremely instinctive and there is no way he gets to the third imo.

Even if he's just a nickel CB, I have hard time believing 64, even 32 players, are going to have a better career.

Can someone explain just how he's better than Ahmad Black? I know it's easy to say Black stinks now that he's out of the league, but he was a fantastic college player who did a lot of the things Joyner does.

They're not the same player!! Because they're both short and black, we have to compare them? Joyner is a significantly better prospect than Black was.

Please explain what he does better. It wouldn't be difficult to bump the old threads where most of the board thought Black was going to be great.

Joyner has at least played CB, which Black never did, so that's a fairly big difference.  Also, this thread about picking Joyner in the second round, which I wouldn't do.  I'd have no problem taking Joyner in the 5th round, where Black was selected.I'd say Joyner's a better pro prospect that Black, but I wouldn't take Joyner in the second round.

I think he's going to sneak into the 1st round anyway so it's a moot point in my mind.

That's highly possible.

Why are you trying to compare him to Black? And what does he do better? Well he is more physical, he plays better in space, he's more instinctive, he's more versatile, and so on....

Black had extremely sub-par athleticism. I don't know anything about. Joyner, but assuming he puts good numbers up at the combine, that will be a big advantage over Black.

Because if you follow the draft long enough, you know you see one of these undersized safety/corner 'tweeners who plays for a loaded team and "he just makes plays". Maybe Joyner will be a stud in the NFL. Who knows? But we see these types of players every year and usually they don't turn out to be studs.

Agree with FRG. It's hard to be a corner/safety tweener in this league. Usually need to fit the mold of one or the other to succeed at it.Exceptions to every rule though.

The Honey Badger's success might help Joyner, but in the end he is 5'8" 190lbs and that will hurt his stock on many draft boards. I mean, at least Ahmad Black and the Honey Badger measured in a hair shy of 5'10". Being a true 5'8" defensive back in the NFL is rough and I just don't see him being taken in the the first two rounds. We'll see.

Is this a joke? Not even interested. He is not as good a prospect as Nickell Robey who went undrafted last year.
