todd bowles plays defense as he would have top tier pass rush .. and he has none!
awful!
This is disappointing
"Here’s the kicker. [Morrison] hasn’t even been the worst cornerback on the field on a down-to-down basis. That mantle belongs to Zyon McCollum, who got rewarded with a three-year, $48 million contract extension that feels premature right now."
The classic regression after getting paid on a contract year.
bad combo
*The Rams have outscored opponents 69-26 (+43) in the first quarter, the largest margin in the league.
*The Bucs have been outscored 33-58 (-25) in the first quarter, 28th in the league.

We are pretty evenly matched. Not many QBs I would trade for one game with Mayfield but Stafford is that guy. Reminds of Brady late in his career. There isn't much he hasn't seen and he has the answers to the test before he takes it.
Should be another entertaining football game.

i mean yeah, didn't quite understand that resigning before the season
dude had another year left on his contract, you still have Dean, and you just drafted 2 corners with high draft picks.
not saying we shouldn't have resigned Zyon...it's just at that time we did; much like extending Bowles before even playing the season.
very likely we would have extended both upon conclusion but still don't get the prematureness
like extending Baker this offseason, yes, makes sense...that's the QB and playing at a top tier level. But Bowles and Zyon, come on guys.
didn't quite understand that resigning before the seaso
I cna see the thought process with the messaging to the team ie "we reward our own guys who play well." I dont follow the cap stuff, but is their an early discount aspect to it or a cap management aspect to it ie better to put the money up now?
Maybe its a combo of those things, but as you point out its not without risk
Hat tip to ehinote always beating this drum
''Tampa Bay’s defensive tackles and outside linebackers don’t win enough one-on-ones in the trenches, and that forces Bowles to have to try to manufacture pressure with blitzes.
Bucs inside linebackers Lavonte David (2.5) and SirVocea Dennis (two) and defensive backs Tykee Smith (two), Jacob Parrish (two), Antoine Winfield Jr. (one) and Jamel Dean (one) have combined for 10.5 sacks this season.
That’s more than Bowles’ outside linebackers have this year, which is nine. Diaby has four, Nelson has three, Reddick has 1.5 sacks and Markees Watts has half a sack.
It’s not supposed to be that way, and Bowles knows it.
When asked on Monday to assess the play of his edge rushers, Tampa Bay’s head coach was blunt
“We need more,” Bowles said. “We need more.”
and to FIRE!
"This Tampa Bay franchise simply can’t draft a quarterback – regardless of who the general manager is. It’s a fact that the best quarterbacks in Bucs history have all been free agent signings from Brad Johnson to Brian Griese to Jeff Garcia to Tom Brady to Baker Mayfield.
Perhaps it’s the same thing with edge rushers with this franchise."
not really
however, if you see what texans did to bills OL last evening you’ve got to start asking questions, we hardly touched josh allen

For sure. The Texans were relentless
the only way to fix this defense is to play spencer rattler every week 😎
Kinda makes you wonder how we beat the Texans… and they had CJ Stroud?not really

Buc defense got 3 sacks on Stroud (1 by Vita, 1 for Tykee and LVD & Greg Gaines split one), and likely some pressures (I remember a bear-miss by Reddick.
Having Mike Evans and Egbuka may have helped in the pass game, but no WR went off… Bucky & White split 136 yards so we kept it close while Baker’s 33 yards of Houdini skilz, pulled it out.
Crazy our defense has either dropped off so much in, so few games - or teams have figured it out so quickly, yet we’ve had no answer?

Or we just had a rough patch where we faced something like Jodh Allen rolling right on a play that is appropriately defended right only to then find a space one the deep left a rookie has vacated.
That might be an overly optimistic take, but its the take of Josh Q on the Pats and the then Ledyard and his guest on the Bills.
I dont know that the Rams will be the bets test of that theory, but maybe the remaining games.
