Thanks. Still seems that the relationship could be overblown.
Gabbert is a good comparison. Just say no to Carr.
Don't get the hate with Carr. Smaller school sure, but his arm is good. His release is ridiculously quick. He's accurate and can make all the throws and from most reports can read defenses well. His knocks are the conference he played in, his ability to deal with pressure, and his footwork goes to hell against pressure. If he can protect the ball better, learn to take a sack instead of throwing it up, an work on his footwork there's a lot of promise. I don't think he's a gabbert 2.0. I also think the difference in the top 4 QBs is minimal. That all have weaknesses that won't translate well without improvement. I don't think Carr is worth the #7 pick either, but honestly if it weren't the new draft/cab I don't think most of the top 4 would be considered a top 10 pick. The new system though, we may see all 4 go in the top 10.Still weird adjusting to the new draft as teams seem to care less about the ramifications since they don't have to drop a ridiculous contract.

I'm right there with you. To many people automatically liken Derek Carr to what his brother hasn't done in the NFL. That's like saying that teams shouldn't draft Peyton or Eli based on their fathers losing record in the NFL. David Carr was put in an impossible position. Houston failed to build a OL in front of him and he paid the price. When you look at Derek Carr he has just minor mechanics issues that any decent QB coach can correct at the NFL Level. I think a lot of fans are going to be surprised to see Carr drafted higher than most of the network draft pundits think he will. Possibly even at #7.
Gabbert is a horrible comparison. I see no similarities whatsoever.

It looks like Carr is on the rise and will land in Tampa soon. First the Browns then the Raiders who prefer Carr. Then no less than 17 QB coaches at the combine preferred Carr to Manziel. Now you have scouts saying he is the best QB in the draft. http://nfl.si.com/2014/03/03/2014-nfl-draft-rumors-derek-carr-best-qb/
at the end of the day before the draft you take note that P.Manning got his head handed to him on silver platter. That said, I wouldn't mind Carr in the 2nd even though he may not be there but we have a top 10 pick and we need a better pash rush
The Raiders are very high from what I heard of Carr. Reggie is torn on selecting him or fixing the OL situation because of the Veldheer/Saffold saga unfolding so sloppy for the organization.
I've had the Raiders taking an OL at #5 too with Veldheer/Saffold saga. But now that they've signed Donald Penn + McKenzie basically stating the obvious "the starting QB isn't on this roster" interesting to see whether they're aiming for Carr or another QB at 5.

If Carr goes to the Raiders with that OL they currently have he is going to get killed like his Brother. The best landing spot for Derek Carr is either in Tampa, Tenn, Arizona, Kansas City, San Diego or San Francisco.
