...which we didn’t address in the off-season (Earl Watforf is not addressing it...he’s been a consistently poor pro)...

Is an unspannable chasm.

Cappa could not unseat Benenoch last year (and his few scant snaps on tape were majority losses or worse), is our hopeful starter. What we will get from this small-school, converting OT remains to be seen.

I covered Benenoch’s snaps in tons of breakdowns last year...so feast your eyes on the disparity (a reminder, 60 is a Passing Grade while 67 is in the C+ territory and 70s are B and higher...roughly, there are position and other normalizing factors).

Caleb Benenoch

14 Failing grades...which include:

- an overall grade in the 40s
- 12 game failing streak
- 12 games in the 40s
- 5 games where Pass Blocking were in the 30s or lower
- 3 games where Pass Blocking was 20 or less (including one in the teens!)
- only 6/36 Run/Pass game grades were 67+
- 10 games with failing Run Block grades (and 4 more right up against it)

Quenton Nelson

- 3 failing game grades all year
- 9 games 70+ grades (including both playoff games)
- 0 Pass Block or Run Block game grades in the 40s
- 29/36 combined Pass/Run Block game Grades were 60+
- 11/18 game Grades were 67 or better
- 9/18 game Grades were 70+
