UNC tight end Eric Ebron has had one heck of a career with the Tar Heels. The saying all good things must come to an end couldn’t be any more true than in this situation. Ebron’s talent will be missed sorely by North Carolina, but for one NFL team he will be their treasure. Ebron could be the different between the post-season and watching the playoffs from their couches. Ebron has a career total of 1,805 yards and eight touchdowns in three seasons. He’s already shown he is a play maker and undoubtedly ready for the NFL; but which five teams are the most likely to draft him in this year’s upcoming NFL Draft?
Baltimore Ravens The Ravens appear to be the front runner for Ebron in the NFL Draft. Ed Dickson is moving on and the team needs another young, talented tight end that is an explosive play maker. ESPN’s Mel Kiper had this to say about Ebron if it’s on the board for Baltimore: “They need a tight end desperately added to this team. Ed Dickson moves on. You’ve got Pitta, but Ebron, to me, is a guy to me who could really help Joe Flacco and be a viable pick at that point. He could even go earlier.”
Buffalo Bills The Buffalo Bills continue to rebuild their program under a new coaching staff. They’ve got their quarterback in EJ Manuel, but now they need to surround him with weapons. Sure, they’ve got Scott Chandler who leads three other tight ends on their roster; but the Bills need a young, big, physical, and athletic tight end for the future of the franchise. Your answer: 6-4, 245 pound Eric Ebron who is young, big, physical, athletic, and speedy. Buffalo would even be wise to to play Ebron as a wide receiver rather than tight end if there is no more room for another tight end on their roster.
Green Bay Packers Jermichael Finley’s future is uncertain after suffering a bruised spinal cord last season and the Packers lacked depth and physicality at the tight end position after his injury. In his final season at North Carolina, Ebron has 973 yards for just three touchdowns. That’s still impressive considering how heavily protected he was by the defenses through out the season. He is a clutch player that always comes through with big plays in a time of need for his team. With Aaron Rodgers as his quarterback, there is not telling just how good Ebron can be in the NFL (…real good).
New York Jets The common theme with all of these mock draft scenarios for Eric Ebron is that these offenses need weapons to surround their quarterback. The case is no different with the New York Jets who have a dire need for a tight end. Santonio Holmes and Jeremy Kerley are their top receivers and for a franchising look for wins and to stay young in age, that is not the direction they need to continue in. Ebron could easily come in and start for the Jets and be a huge asset for Geno Smith.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers The Buccaneers have made it clear that drafting a quarterback is not a priority for their team. While they may grab a late round quarterback and sign in the free agency, it all more than likely means new head coach Lovie Smith is confident in former NC State quarterback Mike Glennon – for now. With Vincent Jackson and Mike Williams already surrounding Glennon, the Bucs need a viable option at tight end too. If you can surround your quarterback with big play makers, there’s nothing but room for improvement. Eric Ebron would provide not only starting characteristics but leadership that that Bucs need. How exactly have they made it clear? Even if they SAY it, we still would have to question whether they mean it. Speculation, as with anything predraft.
why not ed dickson? he hasnt played up to his potential but he has the size speed numbers we all want. how is his blocking? wiki said he was more of their blocking te over pitta. wright-dickson-blocking TE...byham, stoccker, carimi, whomever.

Yes, obviously. Vernon Davis was the last time a TE has had this much potential coming out. Other than maybe Davis, who was also a once a decade TE, Ebron will be drafted higher than any of the players you listed because his ceiling is higher. Graham and Hernandez were not even top prospects. They were drafted in the 3rd and 4th rounds. Why are they even in this conversation? We are talking about an elite TE prospect.
I thought we were talking once in a decade player, not prospect. I doubt ebrons measurable swill be close to Davis, but he is a solid prospect for sure.
Imo, we should draft manziel, but if he's not there(or bort,tb), they should trade down and nab this guy.

I like Ebron but calling him a "once in a decade" player is a stretch. He's good but he is not going to redefine the position. Many of the games top TEs were not top draft picks. Gonzalez was drafted at #13 overall. Veron Davis 6th. Is he worth it? That's about as good as it gets for TE. Plus, have you seen some of the Tight Ends in the NFL these days? You gonna tell me that Ebron is better than Jimmy Graham? Gronk? Whitten? Gates? Davis? Pump the brake, yo.

I like him but not at #7. As others have mentioned, a trade back, and getting him later, while adding a draft pick would be the perfect storm.
