Ex-Bucs’ offensive coordinator Liam Coen is proving his worth with the Jacksonville Jaguars, who now sit at an impressive 10-4 after Trevor Lawrence threw for 330 yards and five touchdowns against the New York Jets. It’s a stark reminder of the tough decisions that must be made in the NFL—decisions that can determine the trajectory of a franchise.

Choosing to keep Todd Bowles over Coen last year was a safe move, but it’s not how you win championships. Our offense was the backbone of the team last season, and I warned that if Coen left without a solid replacement, we would be in trouble.

This team simply doesn’t have the defense, players or scheme, to carry the load. We need our offense to lead the current make-up of this team, and that need has never been clearer.

Lawrence is not be a better quarterback than Baker Mayfield, but under Coen’s guidance, he looks like it. Watching game tape from last year, it’s evident that Coen knew how to create space with his play calls. His run game was unpredictable and effective, and we’re seeing the same creativity in the Jags’ offense today.

This transformation highlights just how much coaching can impact a team’s success from season to season. The Jaguars struggled to a 4-13 record last year, but with much of the same roster, they’re now thriving at 10-4.

Imagine if we had Coen leading our team. Who knows where we’d be right now? Our defensive scheme would likely have evolved alongside the offense and new defensive philosophy. Just look at Jacksonville’s defense—far superior to ours and a turnover machine. It’s a bittersweet reminder of what could have been.

Learning more this weekend, I will recant my statements about Licht and this topic.

He never has a say in it.

Thank, Gazers.

Hope those optics worked well for you!

What do you mean the GM didn't have a say in it? Based on what?
