At some point we need to see Trask

Jay Glazer on FOX

“Look, they know what Kyle Trask can do. Right?” Glazer said. “They see him every day. They know what Baker Mayfield can do.

“So I think if they thought Kyle Trask could give us a better shot to win right now, we’d go over and do that. But I don’t think they believe that.”

Basically, the playoffs still possible because division sucks

That's a terrible mindset that can be proven false with countless example. Bucs are at best about to be 4-6. They invested a #2 in Trask. Baker is a journeyman with an expiring contract. At some point common sense has to take over.

but that's the common sense, they have seen Trask for the last 1,000 days and he doesn't wow in practice; couldn't beat the lowly falcons in week 18 of last year.

they know he isnt the answer.  As mid as Baker is, he is pro bowl material next to Trask

it was a stupid draft pick.

that being said, i do feel he will get 4-5 starts this year as Bucs will likely be out of contention after Thanksgiving.  Feel they may fire bowles and had Canales coach for a handful of games to see what he can do.  Unfortunately for Canales, they will also want to get Trask some playing time.

Just to be clear, you think it’s common sense to give a QB with 77 starts, on 4 different teams in the last 4 years, more starts on a dead team than to give Trask his first start on the team that drafted him in the second round?

let me answer that by asking you this - would it be better for a team to start a guy that actually played quarterback to play the position or a guy that was a stock broker but because of nepotism was somehow put on the team. Your logic is that he is on the team, why not give him a chance?

the Bucs also picked Roberto aguayo in the second round.

all kidding aside, Trask will get some starts this year and at that time they will see enough.

but they won’t bench baker who is playing himself into a significant raise in the offseason.

bowles is coaching for his life and will pick the guy who is significantly better and gives him the best chance to win.

this isn’t madden where you can reset the game. No one in their right mind thinking Trask is better than mayfield. That’s like thinking luke mc own is better than Jeff Garcia or Brian griese

in any event, Trask will start in December when canaled is in the interim head coach

Trask wasn't just "somehow put on the team". Your analogy is ridiculous and shows poor conceptual understanding of the topic. You thinking Bowles will be fired in season also shows poor understanding.

Baker isn't playing himself into anything. He's playing fair considering he has Wirfs, Evans and Godwin.

You, me, Jay Glazer, Bowles, or Canales don't really know how Trask will do in live games. There's only one way to fairly judge him.

2008 Bucs lost 4 games solely because of poor QB play, waffling back and forth between two guys who never played in the league again.

2008 Bucs lost 4 games solely because of poor QB play, waffling back and forth between two guys who never played in the league again.

1.  Obviously my analogy was meant to be ridiculous. QBs drafted around Kyle Trask in 2021 - Kellen Mond and Davis Mills.  Davis Mills actually got some pretty significant playing time - 33 touchdowns, 25 INTs, 83 QB rating in two seasons. Dude relegated to back up.  Why?  because he wasn't a difference maker.  Why be mediocre with Mills, Trask, Mayfield?  See what i did there?  Kellen Mond is already on his third team.  Trask has thrown 9 passes.  Couldnt even climb to #2 in his second year in the league.  is now what we believe to be #2 in his third year but i guess we'd find out with a Baker Injry whether it be him or John Wolford.  would you actually be shocked?

2.  He has Wirfs and 4 JAGS on the offensive line.  our offensive line is at best top 20 in the league.  We has 2 good WRs but again, we maybe rank top 8-12 in the league there.  JAGS at RB and TE.  The talent is lacking on this team.  i'd say we are probably mid level talent with poor coaching taking us down a few slots to 20th overall

3.  We dont know how he will do.  Like i said, i think he will get time later this year when Bucs are out of it.

4.  I think it is unlikely Bowles gets fired mid year, but if we lose 3-4 more games in a row, you dont think it's possible?  that would be quite a skid. A loss to the Titans?  Undoubtedly a loss to the 49ers, then a tough road game at Indy.  Could see Bucs turning to Canales with Trask on 12/3 with Carolina home game.  Woudlnt save it's the betting favorite at this stage but if we lose 3 more in a row, they may pull the trigger to see what Canales and Trask can do.  My argument to you is more that will signal waiving the white flag and that the season is over.  These fools still think they have a shot at playoffs and Mayfield isn't playing terrible and gives them the best chance to win.  Once no one is playing for their lives, i could see a more lose atmosphere as i outlined above.  hang tight, it's happening.

5. Luke McCown played for the Jaguars for 3 years, Atlanta 1, and Saints 3 years for a combined 7 years after Tampa.  he had 74 completions in those 7 years with 0 touchdowns and 5 INTs.  certainly a career Trask can only dream of

now this would be a story....Licht hires his old boss after he gets the pink slip with the Patriots. Belichick to join the Bucs to get him those "Ws" and pass Shula's all-time record.  Copying TB12's journey down to RayJay.

Interesting idea.  Arians came here to tack a couple years onto the end of his career.  If Belichick gets fired here's the reasons he probably won't come to the Bucs.  1) Brady came here.  I think that's a negative.  He won't want to look like he's following Brady's around.  2) Will the greatest coach in the modern NFL be happy as just a head coach under Licht?  We sure as hell don't want to hire Belichick to be the GM and coach.  He's a terrible GM.  3) Do we want the whole military style of coaching which Brady left to get away from and has limited appeal to a declining number of today's players coming out of college.  4) Brady fit into the Tampa Bay lifestyle.  I just don't see the grumpy one becoming one with the Tampa Bay vibe.

So I just don't see it.

Goedeke dominated Hutchinson and all Baker did was miss wide open WRs all day.
