Tampa Bay Buccaneers (18th)PB: 21st, RB: 12th, PEN: 17thStud: The team has to love how Demar Dotson (+23.0) has developed over the years. He’s among the best right tackles in the league right now.Dud: We’ve never understood the infatuation with Davin Joseph (-34.4). He’s a high draft pick with great measurables, but his play on the field as never backed up the hype he gets off it. This year was about as bad as it gets for him, being a liability in the run game and earning a negative in pass protection.Analysis: The two tackles earned the top marks on offense for the Bucs, but that was about all this offensive line had to shout about. Clearly the injury to Carl Nicks has hurt this team significantly with every person they tried to replace him with unqualified for the task. A shame because with him they’re probably a Top 10 unit.
That sounds about right. Problem is we're spending top 5 in the league money for bottom 3rd production. All for blowing this thing up and starting over. Dotson is a nice piece with a wonderful contract. I might see what Meredith wants. He's not a horrible backup guard and we're going to need a lot of offensive linemen. The rest either restructure down or out the door (and I doubt any would agree to a significant pay cut).
It also doesn't help calling long developing routes continuously, and having qb's that take way to long to get the ball out.
Or receivers that get little seperation
I don't need PFF to grade out this line to know that it needs to be overhauled.

Wouldn't long developing routes be a reason a QB holds the ball too long? Especially a rookie QB.

Rookie or not, it slows them up, as it will with anyone. However, both freeman and glennon's throws, because of their large stature and gangly nature, are wide and take time. Whereas a qb the size of brees will get it out much quicker. Think of weight lifters, the shortest armed lifters last and win more, because they have the shortest distance from point a to b. In that same sense, qb's who are shorter armed also should have a tighter ratio during a pass, as well as an overall quicker release.Combine both those factors and you're just asking for a weak offense imvho.
OG David Yankey from Stanford declared for the draft yesterday. He would be a great fit for the power run game and could be a target in the 2nd
How convenient for PFF they've said Joseph is terrible for years and now after a long, stellar career his play declines a little and they're here to crow about it. Jerks.
no problem taking a Guard in the 2nd. all good going Guard, TE, OT, DE, and even WR if the right guy was there. if the highest rated guy on the board was a CB..still no problem. can never have too many. not going to fill every hole in the draft but filling 2 is a success.
i have a hard time believing that there are 14 teams with worse OLs than oura

Dotson's skewing the whole line higher than they probably should be. If the former RT was still in there, the group would be bottom five.

I see what your trying to do there and the answer is no

My thought exactly. He was the best RT in the league and a top 5 tackle overall according to PFF and I tend to agree, at least about the RT thing.
how were each starter ranked? We Know Dotson was the best RT and Joseph the worst Guard. what about the other 3 guys?
