Browns fans in my office are saying Bucs fans are getting the Baker they had. His play is up and down...gives you hope and then crushes you.
That's why they are Browns fans lol.
Kidding, but the story of this season has been about almost everything except Mayfield, right? And when it was about him it was really because he was winning games for us single handedly. Long time ago. lol
I think he has half the picks of last season and that is amazing when you consider the line in front of him, no run game to speak of and every 2024 starting WR out much of the year.
Yesterday the game plan held him back, if anything. Seemed that way to me. Could be wrong, but his primary role was handing the ball off.

I couldn't care less what Browns fans think. Baker threw for 28 and 41 touchdowns last two years. We've seen how he can look with competent play callers. This year he hasn't played up to the level of 23' and 24' but everything around this team has been a mess.
The biggest stand outs yesterday was the joke of an offensive game plan. They played not to lose from the start.
The zero blitz call at the end of the first half was laughable. At that point, your only goal is so keep them out of the endzone. Everyone knew they were going to take 2 shots and for god knows what reason they decided to put their corners on an island with ZERO margin for error.
Its things like that make we wonder how poor the talent on defense really is when they are consistently being put in to a position like that.

This, exactly.
Terrible game plan and I also do not get the blitz in that scenario
We were never winning a SB with Bowles
98% of the posters on here have known that from the minute he was introduced as Bruce's successor.
We were never winning a SB with Bowles and Mayfield HC and QB combo. I've been saying that since the beginning. I've been able to just watch games for entertainment purposes and not for expectations. Even at the 6-2 point mark I knew things would come crashing down at some point.
Well yeah, I mean Bowles to me, was a half decent defensive coordinator. The defense really stepped up in our 2020 playoff run. I will give him kudos there
but, Bowles brain dead blitz prevented the Bucs from beating the Rams and potentially repeating the following year. We should have seen the signs there.
then he followed up his head coaching debut with Brady's only losing season; a season in which we were looking to make another go at it. Terrible. A season so bad, all the coordinators were fired.
2023 was a pleasant surprise as we thought we were returning to the dark days. Baker emerged as half decent and a potential franchise QB. We started the season 3-1, followed by a 1-6 middle of the season to fall to 4-7 only to win 5 of 6 to finish 9-8. We had a nice win over the Eagles in the playoffs with this ending up being Bowles best year as coach; that's right a season with a 1-6 stretch.
2024 was a step in the right direction for Baker as he had a career year. Do we got ourselves a top 10 guy? A top 5 offense? Again, none of this to do with Bowles but the team also had an additional win. Again tho, another 3-1 start, followed by 1-5 middle of the season to fall to 4-6, only to win 6 out of 7 and finish 10-7. We are seeing a pattern here. one that we expect every year? Bucs disappointed by losing a playoff game they were favored in. Bucs defense couldn't get off the field but offense also had their share in the losing with Baker fumble and Barton braindead snap
so now in 2025, have we finally put it together? Injuries abound but Baker led the team to a 5-1 start. Had our typical dud game against Detroit followed by a win and were 6-2 heading into the bye. This team has a real shot at the #1 seed. WTF Happened? well, they went 1-6 in the middle of the season here. A recurring them that has happened now 3 years in a row. However, we didnt have the bounce back against weak competition we were usually seeing. We have 2 games left, both of which we will be favored in. We win them, and we win division but this team has lost the last 3 games they were favored in. They forgot how to win and Baker has regressed to having his worst season as a Buc.
So, while we all knew we couldnt win a Superbowl with Bowles; we are now questioning who is the real Baker. With Coen, we saw an elite top 10 guy; but otherwise he has looked mediocre. I think with the right offensive coach, we could win a Superbowl with Baker.
the question becomes, do we go with a retread like John Harbaugh who has won a superbowl before but falling up short with a QB that lacks heart in Lamar; bring along Todd Monken as well; or do we go with a Klint Kubiak type?
to me, if Bucs make playoffs, they may keep Bowles but he will have to replace his coordinators. Thinking Mike McDaniel joining from the Dolphins as OC type move. They really should stripe away defensive play calling as well and just have Bowles be a figure head. I think it's possible Bowles is retained, but he will be given an ultimatum to be less involved in the play calling
