Egbuka OPOM . .. maybe on his way to OPOY
Parrish completely as advertised and, according to this source, highest graded nickel

Morrison made a lot of people forget about the BEST version of Dean when Dean went down injured (again). Morrison was all over AJ Brown. Coming off a 100+ yd and 1 TD game the week prior, against the Bucs he had 2 catches for 9 yds.
Pretty good return so far on the draft. Even Elijah Roberts flashed a bit
Parrish is the 3rd highest graded CB, earning 75+ coverage, run defense, AND pass rush grades
Yeah looking like an A+ draft for Licht despite ignoring a major need at LB.
Sucks that Browns reached

“Defensive Rookie of the Quarter: LB Carson Schwesinger, Cleveland Browns,” McGuinness wrote. “New York Giants edge defender Abdul Carter and Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Jihaad Campbell are also in the running here, but it is Schwesinger who takes the spot at this point in the year. One of just five linebackers in the NFL with a PFF grade above 75.0 both against the run and in coverage, his 84.1 overall PFF grade is the best among all rookie linebackers.”
Linebacker is just not a sexy position for the Bucs on draft weekend. You fix everything else and then see what you can dig up to shore up the linebacker.
Devin White was Diet Pepsi - tastes good for half a second, but it's really toxic waste with a horrible aftertaste. LVD is ROH but he's been taken for granted quietly plying his trade since before Licht got here. It's the D-line that gets the most attention at One-Buc and I suppose rightfully so. I expect the first round pick next year will be D-line once again. But they'll finally have to pony up a Day 2 pick for a linebacker. Sure would be nice to see Schwesinger patrolling the gaps.
I don’t believe it has anything to do with sexiness, think it has everything to do with not being able to get the targets at LB they wanted. Browns took Schwesinger before we could. I don’t think the ones that were available were rated as highly by the Licht team.
After these last few drafts, it’s hard to argue with their rating system.
Thats it.
Good thing they got Egbuka, when most of us didn’t have him rated as highly as the Bucs did.
The last draft was thin at LB. Lets talk about Lichts 12 year draft history where he's only drafted two linebackers higher than the 5th round. When was the bloom off the rose for Devin White? 2022? Still no big investment in LB. There has been a guy named Lavonte David hanging around and that certainly had some to do with the lack of draft picks. But still there's a historic lack of priortizing linebacker in the draft and that has come to roost last year and probably this year as well. Britt, Stuard, Cichy, Dennis were good picks who performed at the level where they were drafted. You can't pin your hopes on a late round pick being your full time starter. After these last few drafts, it’s hard to argue with their rating system.
Thats it.

This draft class looks stellar. Hopefully Licht can hit on about 4 LBers the next draft because we need them badly.
You’re not wrong, just wonder at what point they made the reset on the type of player they were looking to add?The last draft was thin at LB. I think that can be traced to the last 4 to 5 years. I can see that conceptual shift taking some time to take root, and then some time seeing performance show up consistently on the field. New coaches also had to be brought on that fit the culture. Not sure that’s applied to ST yet… while I’m torn on El Serpiente, being a “I am that man” candidate, he did prove to be a high level offensive strategist.
Also, that same 4 to 5 years timeline aligns with the period of being limited on late first round draft picks going offensive, and a lack of FA access.
It doesnt account for not adding LB’s each year, but it shows that we haven’t had a lot of time to address every level. I do think Schwesinger was this years target, but proves that we’re not the only ones trying to fill the ILB spots.
just wonder at what point they made the reset on the type of player they were looking to add?

I thought Licht referenced the Devin White pick, but could be wrong. That would be roughly your suggested timeframe.
To Trask's point, I wonder if most of the top teams have a 1st round anchor player at LB. I am sure several people here know that answer, I do not without looking, but the Eagles just took Campbell. The Lions have Jack Campbell.
You can already hear Licht talk like they just invested in the back end, so next is LB or DE

Yeah, it does.
Egbuka, Parrish, Morrison standing out big time.
Depends on a lot of factors of course, but I think they could spend that first pick on the D-line with Vea getting older, Kancey injury prone, Hall and Reddick free agents and Braswell a bust. Roberts and Walker are both solid additions, but defensive line is the premium position for Bowles and Licht may still be a little gun shy abuot using a first rounder on a linebacker. But #1 reason IMO is that Vita Vea is getting older and the defense starts with stopping the run.just wonder at what point they made the reset on the type of player they were looking to add?
