Hey guys it was real. I'll be back when they get rid of Bowles. Maybe a while with our dumbass owners.

Hopefully we’ll see you again by Friday.

Rick Stroud basically just tweeted that Bowles is back

could you post the tweet?

i think you mean this

"Bucs coach Todd Bowles has met with ownership and is having meetings with his coaches individually today. Things seem to be progressing as normal but at minimum, there will be staff changes. Perhaps significant ones. But there’s developments every day in the league, so everything is fluid."

yes that's the tweet.  how do you take that?

Is your stance he is going to fire his staff today and then the Bucs fire Bowles after that lmao.  He may fire his staff but the fact that he survived that meeting has basically all but guaranteed he sticks.

do you feel differently?

Yes, but my only difference is just that all the angst may still be premature.

Bowles may stay.  I have said repeatedly that there is a path.

But, its also a little unrealistic to think the Glazer fire him without speaking to him (Black Monday) or even on the spot today. They probably asked him to come up with his plan.  I think that is Stroud's point in saying "But there’s developments every day in the league, so everything is fluid."

Mark Dominick said that he was told that he and Schiano were safe and then they got fired. Gruden/Allen certainly thought they were safe.

But look, I have posted and I still maintain that its time for the Bucs to move on. That is and has been my take since things collapsed in the last handful of games.

That said though, the microscopic examination of every move Bowles is a little funny to watch, so I cant even imagine what it would be like here on the Red Board IF THEY DO IN FACT KEEP HIM.  There will be some very angry posters, that is for sure.

I don't get that, but to each their own.

Auman tho . .

"Todd Bowles has had regular postseason meetings with Bucs ownership and is expected to sit down individually with his staff to talk about roles moving forward Thursday. All signs up to now point to him returning for another season in Tampa."

man, the stopped watches may be wrong again

Uh oh . . Jeremy Fowler

"Todd Bowles met with ownership Tuesday and has a staff meeting scheduled for Wednesday. Signs point to Bowles returning for a fifth season as Tampa Bay’s head coach. One model that Tampa has kicked around is beefing up the staff around Bowles with a new offensive coordinator and additions to the defensive staff (possibly a coordinator role). Think back to the Eagles when they went big with Moore and Vic Fangio two years ago. Doing so is costly and could prevent Tampa from following suit. But these are the type of big-picture ideas discussed in Tampa lately. The offense’s regression — the team fell from third to 22nd in yards per game over the past year — could prompt change. Improving the defense isn’t so simple. Bowles is still considered a skilled defensive playcaller, and the lack of elite pass rushers could complicate any push for a top coordinator candidate."

You know, this is one of the reasons the Bucs don't get respect from media and fans that we feel they should get. Sticking with a meh head coach when we had not 1, but 2, coaches leave and lead their teams to better records/division championship. And to top it off, another coach with far more respect and a better resume becomes available and the Bucs don't pursue him? Frustrating is the only word I can think of, but it doesn't come close to how I feel.

No one wants John Harbaugh in Tampa.  He had the best QB in the game for 8 years and has 3 playoff wins to show for it.

Tampa needs to seek a coach where we don’t have to parse words when it comes to whether he’s good or not.

Harbaugh looks real good compared to the alternative - Bowles returning

and he did not have Patrick Mahomes.

He did have a top 5 QB but also a guy who's heart doesn't seem in it.  To be clear, Lamar was not top 5 this year.

Somebody asked me if i would trade Baker Mayfield for Lamar Jackson straight up (this was prior to the embarrassing Miami loss) and i wasn't sure.

Clearly Lamar is the better QB, but the dude seems to quit and half ass it which i guarantee you goes alot towards the Ravens lackluster success.

Harbaugh is a top 15 coach in this league, Bowles is not.  having a better coach is probably good for 2-3 wins alone, which gets us to 10, 11 wins not including any other upgrades.

What gets me is this.

OK they bring in a new OC-Great. They bring in a DC- ok great.

What is Bowles role on the team? His strengths sure as hell aren't situational football decisions and clock management.  Clearly the players have issues with how practices are being run. What FA is going want to join this team when the money is equal somewhere else? Most teams will have new coaches and can sell hope. We can sell tired old Todd?

problem i see is not sure how we get an upgrade from grizzard or anyone worth a dame if it's likely Bowles is out of here next year

i mean the only way he isnt is if you carry his sorry ass again and that's alot to ask of a never before OC to be like Coen.

he did not have Patrick Mahomes.

He has Mahomes with a better deep ball. That’s my point.  Think in your minds eye about Lamar Jackson in his prime.  Like really really think about it.  Should he be losing any games at all, even if you have a bottom type defense???  The answer is “hell no!!!”

From all indications, it seems that Mr. Bowles is going to remain on in 2026.

you called it, I think.

Times reported that Bowles says he's back

2025 - Lamar missed 4 games and also played very mid this year.  He went through a 3 game stretch with zero touchdowns and they managed to go 2-1 in that span. He had zero touchdowns against the Patriots.  He missed a must win Packers game. But alas you are referring to other years.  Missed playoffs.

2024 - They won a playoff game and then lost to Buffalo 27-25. Mark Andrews had money on the game, not only losing a fumble on one of the final drives but failing to catch an easy 2 point conversion

2023 - They won a playoff game and then lost to KC 17-10.  KC went on to win the Superbowl.

2022 - Lamar missed 5 games and also played very mid this year.  17 passing touchdowns in 12 games. Had to play their playoff game with a back-up QB and lost 24-17 to the Bengals.

2021 - Lamar missed 5 games and also played very mid this year.  16 passing touchdowns in 12 games.  Missed playoffs at 8-9

2020 - They won a playoff game and then lost to Buffalo 17-3. Lamar did not have a good game

2019 - They went 14-2 and lost to the Titans in their first game 28-12.  Lamar did not have a good game

2018 - They went 10-6 and lost to the Chargers in their first game 23-17. Lamar was a rookie and took over as starter mid way through the year.  Had just 6 passing TDs in the regular season

so....yeah im looking at Lamar and i am asking myself, ok he missed 4-5 games a year and chokes in playoffs.  Sure he's a former 2x MVP (2019, 2023) but generally speaking he's come up short as the main reason they've lost many years.

and similar to Bowles, Baker having his worst year as a Buc did not help matters and i would put most of our demise on him, but having the worst defense in the league after the bye week surely contributed heavily and that's on Bowles directly.

I'm 70/30 he is staying. Next year will certainly suck if we keep him over someone like Harbaugh

damn i dont like those odds

PS - DJT just endorsed Harbaugh.  Don't let your constitutes see your new redboard name!

I'm already on it!

You may be correct, but there are reports that as soon as his firing was announced his agent fielded calls from 7 teams asking about availability. That's almost a quarter of the league.
