Just my opinion here but I think Tandy and Wilcox can get it done. Its a HUGE upgrade from Conte and McDougal. Tandy really came on strong the 2nd half of the season and looked like a playmaker. Wilcox is a very underrated signing. He is a enforcer with coverage skills and has a knack for being around the ball. I only see 2 safeties who could come in and send one of Tandy and Wilcox to the bench in Jamal Adams and Malik Hooker and they will be long gone by 19. Why draft one at 19?
That being said I see CB as a far superior need in comparison to safety. Tandy and Wilcox are still in their primes. Grimes we will get this year out of but father time will come calling. We have a young player in Hargreaves but outside of Grimes and VHIII we have NOTHING. I just think this safety need that is always discussed and I got caught up in it as well is more of a myth than anything.
We have a major need at CB and sitting at 19 if no offensive playmakers are OTB there is probably a very good shot we could have a look at Tre'Davious White or Gareon Conley. I'd think hard about Marlon Humphery at 19 but maybe a little too rich there.. but Conley and White I'd sign up for.
On top of that don't forget OL. We have got to either get Winston weapons or protect him better- one or the other. Its frustrating to see what Tennessee is and will do for Mariota via the draft. DJax was a great signing but he's 31, hasn't played a full season since 2013 and if he goes down where back to 2016- NOT GOOD.
Does anyone else feel we can survive at safety with Tandy and Wilcox? I just don't see the value in drafting a safety with what we have with those 2 already plugged in. If heaven forbid Cook, Howard or Davis by some miracle are on the board and we pass and select a safety or say Cook- DUMBEST MOVE OF ALL TIME.
