I don’t think this is speculation but no coach, player will ever own up to it. When you look at strategy in football, time management/killing the clock is what really good coaches excel at. On that last drive when Chubb scored, we let him score. Go watch the play again when you have a second. Winfield is an all-pro, and his angle on that play was one of the”Let him score”. When Chubb scored, and we had more than 2 minutes left and all of our timeouts, I turned to the people I was watching the game with and said, “We just won the game!”
It’s a ballsy strategy, and again, no one will admit to it, but that’s what happened last night IMO.
What a win!!!
That's one heck of a hot take.
i mean yeah. im glad we did. and if we didn't, im glad we gave up the TD.
Grant it, the offense wasn't moving the ball but it was our best chance to win the game and it showed that we needed just about all the time to move down the field.
the smart move was for the Texans to burn the clock, maybe even just kick a field goal.
and our clock management was executed to perfection. Hell, even with 6 seconds, i was worried about the Texans getting in field goal range. Start the ball at 35 with 1 timeout...yeah not likely but i know your butt cheeks were clinched like mine that i wasn't fully confident we won the game until the clock struck zero.
Yea maybe I mean I dont think you let people score because its not guarantee you will score a td. I get it though. Worth speculating. I wondered if kc did that because they knew their offense is that good. Our offense can put together drives when they need to. We were really close to a 4th and turnover on downs if it wasn't for baker going for the first. So it is definitely ballsy if true.

oh i am not sure we were smart enough to let them score and i dont think we did...but we were fortunate for it to happen
The Texans started that drive on our own 26 with 3 minutes to go.
Nick Chubb at the time had 10 carries for 17 yards. Chubb rushed for 1 yard and ran time off the clock. We kept all 3 time outs. Then suddenly at the 2:10 mark, Chubb scores before the 2 minute warning on a 25 yard run.
if he doesnt score, we risk never giving our offense a chance to win the game as they wouldnt have got the ball back.
Plus, Chase McLaughin is in the midst of a mental breakdown so it's not like we wanted to leave the game up to him to win it
so our best chance was some Baker Mayfield magic despite our offensive line giving him no time to throw.
somehow it magically worked out because we looked like ass after our first 2 drives.
If this was the case, why did it happen on second down and not first down?

exactly. i think the poster is giving our coaching staff too much credit
but to be honest, i was happy when Houston scored because that was our best chance to win the game.
Being lucky they scored like that vs "it was planned" are not the same thing.
looking at the play again I dont think we let them score
Getting a stop and forcing a fg is easier than driving for a td with time winding down. That red area is super hard just because theres less space, but it all worked out :)
Look at how limp Winfield is on the play. He made absolutely no effort to tackle Chubb or even make a play for him.
I am not sure who replaced Spytek (Biehl maybe??) but this is what happened. The Texans had the ball, could kill the clock,or at least force us to use timeouts. We made the smart call given our offense with four downs and let them score. It’s not a stretch when you watch the replay. Tampa wanted to win and knew this was the best way to do it.
I don't hear a lot of talk about who blew that play. I wasn't too sad when it happened, because at least the Bucs got the ball back. It sure seemed like they let it happen.

this guy agrees with me. We let them score.
Ok so 2 clowns in the clown car

Watch the play and make the argument against it.
It’s truly the only way we have a chance in this game. Winfield makes zero effort. WINFIELD LET THE TD HAPPEN!
