Alot of those not living in real world, wanted him gone after 2024 season.

You mean the smart ones?

Ironically enough, the same time you were getting your original lower back Baker Boi tattoo.

Those were the days...

Bucs firing a black head coach after he just rallied off 2 division titles post Brady.  Yeah....maybe in your Madden franchise dude but was never happening in the real world.

Again, they fired Dungy for accomplishing more.

Has more to do with the Glazers going the cheap route, locker room optics, and being content with winning a dogshit division.

Now look at us!

Ring of Honor Todd!!! (according to some retarded Philly fans)

That was Daddy. The kids have some pussies among them.

I'm not saying that race was a factor in their decision at the end of the 2024 season, I just don't know that it wasn't.

I agree that these were also factors in their dumbass decision.

I mean, exit interviews/post-season interviews...the players rave about him.

And, why wouldn't they?

No practices during a skid, and opting for walkthroughs. Zero accountability. No repercussions for bad play.

Show up to work, have fun, get paid (despite how much you suck at your job).

no need to be so sensitive.  You always get so sensitive and aggressive with "personal attacks"

everything will be ok Donkey Hunter.  Here let me explain it to you so you better understand.

The Bucs offense was pitiful under Dungy and the defense was championship caliber.

in 97, the Bucs D was a top 5 unit.  Championship caliber, one would suggest.  They won 20-10 in their wild card round then lost 21-7 in the divisional round.

in 98, the Bucs D was again a top 5 unit, Bucs missed playoffs at 8-8

in 99, the Bucs D was...you guessed it a top 5 unit. They won their first game 14-13, and then lost the second game 11-6 in the championship round.

in 2000, the Bucs D was a top 10 unit.  Lost the Wild card round 21-3 to the Eagles

finally in 2001, the Bucs D was a top 10 unit.  Lost the wild card round to 31-9 to the Eagles again.

so while Dungy helped shape going from Yuccaneers to Contender, the offense was dreadful under him so they had to make a change.  One would suggest the expectations were pretty high in Tampa during that time.  Looks like they made the right move as in 2002, Bucs ranked #1 with Monte Kiffin still in the fold and Gruden as head coach.

with Bowles, the expectations weren't there.  It was post Brady era.  We were supposed to suck(and now we do!).  I am not defending them keeping him after 2025 season.  That's unacceptable, but given the political climate, expecting them to replace him in 2024 with Coen was immature expectations to put it i guess nicely.

Is there another example of that where the expectations were NOT high and coach was replaced?  I mean in Buffalo, them not winning a Super Bowl in a year where Jackson, Borrow, and Mahomes missed playoffs, yeah it was time to replace McDermott.  Just trying to think if there was another situation where a coach was replaced after "exceeding expectations"

You mean like the multiple "grab yer' gun and shoot squirrels" comments?

Or, when you crashed out and tried puffing out that little chest claiming you had a higher net worth (almost cried out loud laughing at how insecure that was)?

Ignoring the rest of your blabbering, considering you've flip-flopped on Bowles as much as you have on Baker...

You pin the non-firing of Bowles solely on race, where there's clearly more to it.

If anything, you wanting to blame it on non-football related stuff, I could make just as good (if not better) an argument by simply saying "Darcie and Tameka".

don't you always start the personal attacks? It seems to be what you go to with a number of posters.

you call it flip-flopping, i call it, assessing the current situation

Bowles and Baker done good for us back in 2023 and 2024. Not so much in 2025 and 2026.  I'm supposed to blindly support them?  Baker was so trash the end of last year, and for all of you being giddy over our franchise prematurely extending him "to win an argument' maybe was sickening.  Who didn't see him sucking from a mile away.  Why were you all blinded by injuries and Netflix documentary?

i have no idea why the Bucs kept Bowles after 2025 season other than the premature contract extension.  that to me was not race related and more financial reasons which looks like we agree on in terms of why they did it.

and for 2024, to me, that was a combination of 1) Bowles was head coach of team post Brady where the Bucs made back to back playoffs in a time they were supposed to stink.  Would they really replace him for exceeding expectations with a guy that had basically 1 year of NFL play calling experience.  Not sure how well that would have went over in the locker room and also for future hires.  Other candidates will certainly remember that  2) Bowles being black coach with this success and then replacing him with some inexperienced white guy...yeah i think maybe played a bit of a factor in addition to the Bucs success.  I am going more with item #1 that there was little chance Coen was replacing Bowles in 2024.  It wasn't the right move clearly to retain Bowles but the Bucs hands were tied.

Big Coen fan and you can see this season especially the stark contrast between having a high energy, young offensive coach over someone like Bowles, but could his one flaw be that he has too much influence in his organization?

I say that because of their drafts and his recent cmments on Travis Hunte - "I don't give 2Fs about 'value' I only care about winning".

that's great but this years draft no #1 pick and their 2nd round pick was a blocking TE. A good blocking TE and that role is critical to his offense BUT is it sustainable to draft in the "don't give 2Fs about value" way they do?

either way great to see someone fo it their own way

"So Joe pulled back — a little — on constant griping about edge rushers dropping. That, and Joe was just worn out from hollering for years.

Then came Gerald McCoy this week calling out Bowles — without naming names but it was quite clear to Joe who he was talking about. GMC was rightly fed up with edge rusher not edge rushing and why Bowles (unnamed) did this so much.

So when good guy and Bucs outside linebacker Larry Foote was asked about David Walker, who has two sacks in 26 snaps, getting on the field more (another relevant GMC grievance). Foote, as did Bowles on Wednesday, said, yes, Walker would get on the field more.

Because he has learned to drop back in pass coverage!

“Oh, absolutely,” Foote said. “He definitely met our expectations, and he did it in a hurry.

“Just grasping the defense, understanding how to drop, where to fit, terminology, stuff like that, but he definitely earned more playing time.”

This Walker has, in a very short time (too small sample size?), demonstrated he can get after quarterbacks lived up to the hype from the Bucs. And on a team desperately needing an edge rush, he’s rewarded with more snaps so he can … cover receivers?"

It’s funny you bring this up because this is exactly, 100 percent, on the nose, correct.

When you take into account that the Glazers are a Jewish family, a culture that has always had the back of the African American people, you get the complete picture.  Bowles was never getting fired.  Ever.  Should he have been?  Of course but, there were way too many factors that are aligned with optics and culture that made it a near impossibility.

Oh this is the part of the cycle where we blame race for management decisions? Right on...

The notoriously woke and leftist Glazers really care about that stuff.

Just use Occam's razor for a moment and you'll realize why Bowles wasn't fired.

you fall under the camp that Bowles deserved to remain head coach (over coen) following the 2024 season based off merit, right?

The jump to race is just weird.

Its hardly an unusual thing for companies to watch very talented younger employees leave because some loyal employee is in the top spot or spots.  Thats the norm more than the exception. You probably see that every day in your life.

So, the point is that an NFL football team is not unlike a family business or corporation. They are NOT prone to firing an existing role because some unproven junior is exciting. And in fact the Glazers did that in the Gruden to Morris switch and they even did the OC to HC with Koetter. Pretty sour tase from both.

And besides, most exciting HCs today were once a Coen-like OC or DC. Kubiak the OC with the Saints. Monken and MacDonald were both coordinators for a Ravens team that would end up firing Harbaugh. The Ravens didnt fire Harbaugh though to replace him with either one of those guys. Minter was under the other Harbaugh.  Looks like the Chargers should have made that switch but they didnt.  Again, that is all the NORM.  Monken was here under a VULNERABLE Koetter, right?  We didnt elevate Monken to fire Koetter and we got Arians.

Anyway, the hypothetical discussion (why didnt they fire Bowes for Coen) makes sense now OF COURSE because fans are ZERO SUM we've seen both stories play out and, more importantly, we dont have any actual connection to the people. They are like TV show characters to us, so we would cast them all aside at any point. To the Glazers though Arians, Licht Bowles Greenberg etc all part of a "succesful operation."  An organization that let LVD stay too long, extends Vea etc. because of theu role in that operation. As fans we dont care about those internal things so its easy to say "off with his head."

Zero disrespect intended, but the race thing is kind of conspiracy theory lazy. Its trying to explain to yourself something that seem off to YOU (Bowles over Coen), but for which there are multiple other simpler explanations (Fire's reference to Occom's Razor) including that its really the norm.  If the Gazers fire Bowles for Canales maybe they are better but we never even see Coen, right? Elevate Monken maybe we pass on Arians etc, no Super Bowl

It all works out, somehow
