I think most of us are thoroughly aware of our weaknesses at safety and defensive end (and to a lesser extent corner). But I keep coming back to this thought: Instead of trying to maintain balance at the possible expense of impact (I.e. trying to fill holes at WR AND RB AND SAFETY AND CORNER all in one draft), why not make the moves necessary to become ELITE on a particular side of the ball (cough *offense* cough) and then work to fortify the other side next year?

I don't think it's realistic to expect to get four or five impact starters all in one draft, especially players that coincide with our needs and draft positions. So I propose making the moves necessary to get two (maybe three) stud offensive players in the first two rounds. And so, I'm salivating at the thought of taking Cook in the first and then trading back up to get Evan Engram or possibly even Njoku. I'd then use a third day pick on Robert Davis or Shelton Gibson.

Can you imagine an offense fielding Evans, Jackson, Cook, Engram/Njoku, and Brate?! I mean...indefensible. Throw in someone like Davis or Gibson in the slot, and just wow. Teams would be much more reluctant to blitz leaving their safeties on an island and their corners singled up on beastly receivers. In theory, it could mean more conventional/predictable looks for Winston and a dramatically improved running game (since teams would in theory be reluctant to stack the box for the same reasons listed above). I also think this would also improve the performance of the oline as well.

Anyway I'm just postulating. Flame away.
