Let me start by saying, I really dislike consistently firing coaches as I think it's a cop out a lot of the time. However when players begin to lose faith or most of all, when the coach himself loses faith, it's time for a change. I don't believe Dirk is a bad coach but I do think his confidence and ability to lead at the moment is in serious question.
I am ok with getting beat, it's a sport and that happens. What I am not ok with is the consistency in which we screw up. Penalties, turnovers, missed FGs, Red Zone ineptness are all things that we just can't seem to improve on. Furthermore, every opponent we seem to play genuinely has their execution in order while we look like a junior college team. Offense looks good and defense plays terrible, defense looks good and offense can't score more than a FG....what is going on?
For me, it's time to cut sling on the HC, DC, ST coach and possibly even the GM. Monken, he can stay for now. I know the Glazers won't do it midseason, but I would. A message needs to be sent and it must be loud and clear. Everyone is held to account.
I don't like bitching without an alternative so here is what I'd do:
President of Football Operation: Tom Coughlin or Tony Dungy
GM: Bruce Arians
HC: Jim or John Harbaugh if available, if not I'd look at Jeremy Pruitt or James Franklin
DC: Jim Levitt
OC: Monken or Mike Leach
I'd move on from Jameis (really wanted it to work out) and draft a QB. Go sign Teddy for a one-year stop gap or try and swing a trade for Carr.
We have to figure this out and fast. I fully believe that the more we are terrible, the closer we come to be a franchise that finds itaelf moving elsewhere to another city.
