Fingers crossed. Seems awfully risky though. Would have preferred an OC with actual NFL experience.
I hear what you're saying, however it believe the one place college coaches CAN translate is at the coordinator / positional coaches. I think as a HC there is too much man management and that's what gets most of the college guys transitioning.

Dirk Koetter went from being head coach at Boise and Arizona State to being a NFL offensive coordinator and has had top 10 offenses with the Jaguars and Falcons.
Agreed, looks like a good fit for Glennon.I'm a fan of the short/intermediate passing game. I hope we still continue to take deep shots of PA with Vjax and MWill, because they're good at that, but the shorter game is great. I think we have guys who can get YAC, Vjax is hard to take, Mike has some shiftyness to him, any of our RB can make people miss and our TE is faster than most LBers. Get the ball out of the QBs hand and let the receivers catch it and make something happen. The long bombs are great but not a way to make bread, keep the ball moving, keep the chains moving and make it easy on our young QB. A screen or short swing pass is every bit as effective in keeping people in the box as a run.

Agreed, I think college HC to nfl OC is doable.
So he was a HC in college, not an OC? Forgive my ignorance haha. Anyways, I definitely like the idea of more high percentage passes with Glennon. I'm definitely ok with us taking a QB if there's one there they're in love with, but if not this seems like a system that would definitely benefit Glennon more than the one he was in this year.
I like Tedford's offenses, I think we are assembling a professional coaching staff, not a circus of clowns like was previously here.
First name Ted, last name Ford.
No worries, not like I'm a wizard on the guy. Thanks to google I knew he was a HC but I think that experience as a leader will help him and let him focus specifically on offense as it's still a promotion and a more difficult job from what I would guess.

Brief bio: volunteer coach at Fresno State 87-88, offensive assistant in the CFL 89-91, QB coach at Fresno State 92, offensive coordinator at Fresno State 93-97, offensive coordinator at Oregon 98-01, head coach at Cal 02-12.
After watching some of the Cal video I am less than excited about Tedford. Not seeing much in the way of creativity or innovation. Seemed like a typical spread offense without much in the way of creative formations. Its like a guy that is copying the trends not setting them.
Not sure if this out there yet:@smartfootball: Jeff Tedford's "Money" Play-action pass concept: http://t.co/5zrPYhfFmw

He called the plays at Cal IIRC.

Why do the routes go farther than 5 yards. I don't understand this offense at all.
Guy has never called an NFL offensive play, never hired an NFL offensive coaching staff, and never recruited an NFL free agent to play in his offense...cautiously pessimistic about this rumored hire...
Im looking at Tedford with cautious optimism. He should be better than our past two OC's easily considering the bar wasnt set very high. A lot of people want to knock him for all the crappy QB's he put in the NFL (outside of ARod), but I look at that with the opposite notion. He got the most out of marginal talent, enough to get them drafted fairly high. Sounds like just the guy we need working with our marginally talented QB.
