Guys they are not firing Bowles with 2 games left

Once Seattle beat the Rams, it all but assured that the rams are the 5th seed

That game was over in 5 minutes last time we played

we made cousins and young look like nfl starting caliber QBs and baker has regressed to fringe starting QB in this league

Bucs aren’t winning another game this year

the Bucs reputation for their next coach means more than them trying to save this season. It’s over

could be the difference between kubiak choosing us and a different team

We won't win another game this year.   I would fire them all tommorow.

Why not?  We can still make the playoffs.  Why not bring in John Gruden for a couple games. Keep the assistant coaches.  We just lost three must win games in a row.

Send a message.

gruden ain’t winning this team games. His offense could only make things work with 1 WR, he wouldn’t know what to do with 4; probably feature tez johnson

Well, who are you going to get?  Just put in an assistant coach? That's not going to provide a spark.

The only reason you fire a coach midseason is if you have a chance to do something, and the Bucs do.  Gruden isn't going to get the team to love him in two games, but he'll be able to manage a game.

We have to fire Bowles now and bring in someone from the outside.  We might have a chance to win the next two games and get to the playoffs.  Who's available?  John Gruden.  That's pretty much it.  It can just be interim.  That's fine.  Don't have to hire him next year.  Gruden will be glad to get his feet wet and pad his resume for next year.

Derp…

Lets just assume we want to make something out of the remaining two games.  We're not just going to fold up shop and clean house at the end of the season.  If we assume that we actually want to try to make the last two games count, do you have a better suggestion than mine?

no I am suggesting they are ok to fold this year for reputation

they realize this year is over and will fire Bowles in 2 weeks

Licht is going to punt and let the season play out.

Terrible scenario from top to bottom.  First of all Gruden would want assurances that he’d be coach next year (we’ve seen his movie before, and his offense is antiquated). Secondly he’d have to let Griz call his plays the final 2 weeks, and I’m not sure Gruden would cede that much control…third Grudens abrasive personality toward players would alienate the locker room before he even had a chance to do anything with it.  Yes it would get rid of some of the dead weight, but it also might prompt Evans to retire or worse sign somewhere else in the offseason.  I’ll always be thankful to Gruden for bringing the first Lombardi to TB, but his time with this team has passed, as he wasn’t even very good in Oakland before he was let go.  Let Bowles finish out the season, and then conduct a proper coaching search in the offseason.

Disagree.  Gruden is sitting around doing Barstool sports.  He's not going to get any guarantees nor should he.  But he does want to coach again and this would be a way to get some experience.

As for letting Griz call the plays, yes he probably will.  Fine.

Will he rub some players the wrong way?  Good! We've had a lot of team unity and how's that working?

You think Evans will be pissed?  He's watching Bowles's defense piss away the season.  He hates losing.  We're 2-7 in the last nine games.  Bowles is gone anyway.  Why is Evans going to be pissed?

You have to put things into context and it could work. If you don't expect miracles.  You don't expect Gruden to solve all the team's problems.  He's not here to remake the team in his image.  He's just here to steer the ship for a couple games and do some evaluationing.  Evaluate the offense.  Do we need to keep Griz or notg?  He's an interim coach, nothing more. And I think he'd be fine with that.

Dead serious.  So I'll repost the question.  If you are GM and you want to make the most of the rest of this season, whats a better idea? I'm all ears, but not holding my breath that you have one.

our options are Bowles or grizz

Since they are both bad, might as well just let it go

I’m a big fan of gruden but he’s had more bad years than good.

remember we were 9-3 the year he got fired. We didn’t make playoffs that year

remember he returned for the raiders and the only year they made the playoffs was when he was fired in week 4

gruden is best on X posting selfies with the 2002 squad

as a GM you need to look at the bigger picture

this teams Super Bowl hopes ended when rams raped them

their hopes for winning a playoff game ended with the falcons collapse

their hopes of making the playoffs ended today

so the question becomes, what coach can turn around a locker room that quit with a game in 7 days that’s a must win for the team to win out and get raped again by the rams

is it Gruden in year 50 of Bucs to hammer it home? Sounds like a good movie idea but not realistic man. Who will be the DC to save the defense?

bucs are hopefully looking for a new head coach in 2 weeks and they want to show him that they are a reputable franchise you should join

showing Bowles to the door after 3 straight playoff appearances with 2 games left doesn’t signal that to a new coach

now firing Bowles after this collapse? That’s justifiable but just wait 2 weeks

Yea it just makes sense to do it at the end of the season. I understand the frustration. We just have to wait.

Everybody elses solution is to just throw in the towel.  I think the objective is to win the last two games and be competitive in the one home playoff game.  Lets just say hypothetically that Gruden would agree to be an interim coach for three games. What is the better solution for salvaging something out of this season?  For not being a lauging stock for a home playoff game?

A) Keep a "dead man walking" head coach.

B) Fire him and hire from in "dead men walking" in house staff?

C) Fire and hire an outsider - Gruden.

D) Fire and hire an outsider - somebody else. (if so who?)

Again, if you DON'T want to throw in the towel, what do you do?

in your scenario of gruden, who is the defensive coordinator?

If I were GM, and ownership gave me 100% full autonomy with the coaching decisions, then I finish out the season with Bowles.

Begin the new HC search now.

Fire him after the end of the season.
