...better, Jdouble.I don't really want to go QB in the middle of round 1 , but if we must then make it Bortles. Better prospect.
im just not sold on Bortles. i think he can be a good qb and that hes got talent. i think hes getting pushed up a lot farther than he needs to be right now. i wish he was a senior so we could see him compete with higher level players at the Senior Bowl. he doesnt face the most imposing defenses week in and week out. he reminds me of Kevin Hogan from Stanford. similar kind of player but Hogan didnt make the jump i thought we he was going to make this seasonthe hype on Bortles by some people is borderline insane. i heard some moron on 98.7 the fan trying to argue that Winston shouldnt have won the Heisman and that he wasnt even the best QB in the state of Florida because Bortles was. i had to shake my head and laugh

I'm not sure FSU wouldn't have had the exact same results this season with Bortles at the helm with all that talent around him....In fact I'm sure they would have.Winston is only a Freshman , though . The argument that Bortles is the better player is pretty stupid , agreed.
Not sold on Bortles, believe he's just a product of a potentially weak qb class.
Well Dex, I'm not saying trade up to take him 1st overall. I'm saying trade back to recoup a 3rd and then take Bortles in the middle of the 1st round. There is a big difference in the investment there. The way I see it, with Bortles and Glennon on the roster, we have twice the odds of having a good QB. AND if Schiano does stay HC, which I think he will, then I do believe it would be a fair competition in camp. If we took a QB top 3....no competition. But if we take a QB around 15-20? I think Glennon would get a fair shot at retaining the starting role. Whatever happens, you have two young QBs with potential on the roster and that is a good thing imo.
im hoping we trade back to the late teens and acquire a 3rd and 6thdo this1st - Eric Ebron TE UNC2nd - Trent Murphy DE Stanford3rd - Lamarcus Joyner CB/S FSU4th - Donte Moncrief WR Ole Miss5th - Morgan Moses OT UVA (dont think he falls this far but hopefully)6th - Caraun Reid DT Princeton7th - Best player left
I'd be cool with that. :)

yeah i get that. im more pointing out how there are some pundits saying hes going to go Top 5 or even #1 overall. people need to pump the brakes a little on this kid. its almost putting unfair expectation on a guy
Well, there are 12 or 13 teams that need a QB and he is one of the best in this draft if he declares. Chances are he'll end up going top 5 if he does declare...but don't hate the player, hate the game. It's not his fault he is being catapulted into this limelight. Personally I think he is a legit top 5 pick, but I can understand not buying into a UCF quarterback.I guess what I am saying is if it plays out right for us, and Bridgewater, Carr, and Manziel are all taken before Bortles....and he is just sitting there when we pick....I wouldn't hesitate. Glennon might be something, he might not...but if you don't have a QB you don't have anything in the NFL. I wouldn't pass on a guy that looks like Ben Roethlisberger because Glennon might end up being good. But that is just me. And if we did take him and both he and Glennon fail to impress....I wouldn't hesitate to take another 1st round QB in 2015.

we might very well have the same results with Bortles. its hard to say because Jameis obviously is operating with a better supporting cast than Bortles but we also played a tougher schedule (even though the ACC sucks). i dont know if we annihilate everybody we played as badly with Bortles but we definately should win all those games
I look at his Bowl game last year and his two ranked games this year and I think he has shown well vs top competition.

i dont blame him at all. it happens every year and teams take crazy risks and overdraft QBs every single season. look at guys like Jake Locker, Christian Ponder, EJ Manuel, and Brandon Weeden. none of them should have been taken before the 2nd round but because teams are desperate to find a QB they overdraft a guy instead of waiting
Dexmonkey, I saw that you have Morgan Moses on the list. I haven't watched him much this year, but I was at the UVA-Oregon game, that Rob Rang wrote up positively here ( http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/nfl-draft-scout/23529994/even-in-lopsided-loss-virginia-ot-morgan-moses-boosts-grade). I have to say, I came to the exact opposite conclusion about Moses after watching that game (and I wasn't the only one - a few hardcore UVA guys next to me griped about him the entire game). Because I'm not a UVA fan, but am just a football fan living close to Charlottesville, I watch the Cavs with an eye on specific players. And I spent nearly the entire time watching Moses. He sticks out like a sore thumb because of his size, but beyond that...He missed so many blocks in the run game it was scary. There were lots of plays where he barely touched anybody - he looked so "allergic" to contact, that the guys around me were making fun of him for most of the first half. Granted, this was early in his transition to LT and maybe he did better later, but on that evidence, he was a "Looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane" player.
http://www.rotoworld.com/player/cfb/131397/johnny-manziel Scouts Inc.'s Todd McShay included four QBs in the top six picks in his first mock draft of the season.Louisville's Teddy Bridgewater was mocked No. 1 to the Texans, UCF's Blake Bortles to the Raiders at No. 3, Johnny Manziel to the Jaguars at No. 4, and Derek Carr to the Browns at No. 6. "I think the key for Manziel is going to be how he interviews," McShay said. "Some teams are going to fall in love with his confidence, whereas others will be turned off by him." No other quarterbacks were slotted in the first-round. Dec 18 - 2:42 PM
1) defensive coordinator2) offensive coordinator3) a slot WR4) A real edge rusher5) QBI think we're that close.
