I have been the first person to stess the importance of draft capital, especially in the early rounds but...
Quinnen Williams is most likely going to be available at 3, and the Jets want to move down. Our 3rd round pick should get it done.
Yes, we could stay put, keep our 3rd round gamble and hope that Josh Allen isn't the next Barkevious Mingo. We can hope that Ed Oliver isn't the next Robert Nkemdiche. Or we make sure we get the best player in the draft, who is the most likely to be an all pro caliber player from day one.
1 - DL Quinnen Williams
2 - EDGE Chase Winovich
3 - RG Connor McGovern / RG Dru Samia
*trade up from round 4 via Gerald McCoy
5 - RB Jordan Scarlett
7 - WR/KR Mike Walker
DL: Williams-Vea-JPP-Nassib-Gholston
OLB: Winovich-Barrett-Spence-Bond
ILB: David, Bucannon, Minter, Vichy
S: Evans, Whitehead, Adams, Stewart
CB: Davis, Hargreaves, Smith, Harris
* chose Winovich over CB Jamel Dean, still in need of another CB via UDFA, roster cut casualty, preseason trade, etc.
Overall, that's a pretty damn good defense on paper.
Plus I was able to snag a projected day one starter to fill the void at RG, a RB who is every bit as talented as a guy like Josh Jacobs, and an underrated Humphries style WR out of BC, who happened to lead college football in kick return production last year.
We can trade up to 3 and still ace this draft.
