But QB isn't a problem that needs to be solved.

You legit have zero idea of what you’re talking about if you can make that statement with a straight face.

Well it's like worrying about fixing a leaky hose faucet when you have a brush fire.  Wait, don't use that hose!  It leaks!

How many losses do you pin on Mayfield?  Mayfield was brought here on a bargain basement contract to not lose games.  He's done what he was brought here to do.   This team has to sink or swim based on their performance.   Mayfield is not Joe Burrow who's going to will the team to victory.  But he's not Jameis Winston who will throw games away.

Trask isn't going to come in and win games on his own either.  It won't be any different with Trask.  He's not going to bring this team to life and light a fire under the butts of his teammates.  If you think he is you're dreaming.  This team is what it is.  There is no quarterback on this team who can save them from themselves.

So, we get a ridiculous analogy to justify a ridiculous statement.

Par for the course.

A bold, aggressive Head Coach would look at Mayfield, say he's not the guy, and move to the next guy and see if he is.

come on

Just look what the Falcons did. They went to Heinicke when they thought Ridder wasn't getting it done. Of course, it was worse, so they went back to Ridder, but now they are in the lead in the division. Standing pat is just dumb when you went into the season knowing what Mayfield was coming in. You thought you could get a better product out of him, but failed, because he's just not good enough. Should have gone with Trask this past Sunday and let Mayfield rest his ankle as he came up limping in the game again. But, Todd let another chance go by. At the end of the day, it will likely cost him his job.

bowles lost his job when the Bucs lost 21-3 against the panthers last year.

bucs just biting the bullet on salary cap and this was a lost year.

Trask must really be butt cheeks to not even start during a throw in the towel year….like damn dude

You're off by a season though, right?

Last season the Falcons had Mariotta (a former 1st round QB trying to re-establish, like Mayfield) and Ridder (a 3rd rounder) on the bench UNTIL LATE IN THE SEASON.  I think Ridder took over the last few games

The point is you don't stick with what isn't working...unless you're Todd Bowles, of course.

Remember when the Saints had Jake Delhomme riding the bench for years? He actually got to play in 1999, making his first start when they were 2-12 and beat the Cowboys who made the playoffs. He never got to start for them after 1999, sitting on the bench for 3 years. Then Carolina signs him and they go to the Super Bowl. I know it wasn't because of him, but he had a good run. Point is you never know what you have until they actually play in the game. That's why I was so adamant about Luke McCown not playing over Griese.

So many posters WHO CHOOSE TO SELF-IDENTIFY as football savants are here on the Red Board advocating . . IN EARNEST  . . . that the way for the Bucs to beat the Falcons is to bench Mayfield for a QB who has hardly played as snap in the NFL but who MAY . . . . may . .  be better.

How many of those same people MOCKED Noles fans who relentlessly defended Winston through his 30 INT season?

Two PR alum, one who is now with PFF (Sikemma) and one with Walter Football (Campbell)  both say the Bucs need to DRAFT A FRANCHISE QB.

As some adult has probably mentioned to you, Sikemma is a Gator. Campbell says Mayfield no more than a back up.

Any Buc fan would hope Trask succeeds. I certainly do.

No person who understands football would argue that this Buc team would make that change now

lol

Honestly I think Trask is a good fit for what Canales wants out of his offense so it would be great to see him play in live action with the 1st and against 1s when game are on the line.  Mayfield may earn the rest of the season if he can win this Sunday and compete against the Packers.

Like I said before the start of the season the difference between Mayfield or Trask in terms of managing this offense isn't magnitudes greater.  Trask is far more accurate while Mayfield is able to recognize and avoid pressure to make a play. So it still doesn't matter to me who starts the rest of the games this season.

What matters is that the Bucs defense plays up to their potential and the OL finds its groove run blocking.  White is starting to look NFL average and he has potential to do much more.

I'd say a lot more than what you think. Check out page 12 of the Panthers at Bucs thread to see how Mayfield has possibly lost games for us.

arguably more important than Mayfield v Trask.

Definitely hope Trask is a star

This would mean we sit half the defense.
