All this talk about a QB, my idea is to make a move up for Olu Fashanu, put Wirfs back on the right, move Goedeke back to guard.

yes. It’s best to build up the trenches before we kill a QBs career there ala jets and panthers style
Why Not be more like the eagles, ravens and chiefs I say.
Good idea
and Canales, Litch and Glazers most likely
I’ve got some beachfront property in Kansas I’d love to sell you.
mayfield is on crutches this week (exaggerated) and still Bowles and Canales doing a Native American rain dance that he is able to play not to play trask.
Ahhh...yes.
The great talent evaluator, Todd Bowles. The same guy who claims Devin is the 2nd best player on defense. The same guy who thinks Neal is a starting-caliber safety.

Arians was still involved in year 2 of trask with leftwich as “consultant”
Was he better than Gabbert? Or was this evil Brady decision?
so let me guess Brady determine the #2 QB but doesn’t fire Arians? See the irony.
You really don't know when to quit, do you? I think it was pretty clear that Leftwhich and Christensen, <sarc> mavens at the craft of developing QB's </sarc>, were responsible for the QB lineup and development. Claude (my nickname for him), who's claim to fame is getting Dungy fired by failing to have an offense that could actually score more than 6 points a game, tried to claim Trask was a slow learner, yet, he demonstrated during the offseason and training camp that this was clearly not the case. Your desire to rely on the opinions of people who suck at evaluating talent is hilarious. Trask was an Arians and Licht pick. If Arians was still here, Trask would be the starter, guaranteed.
How convenient with your not able to prove hypothetical
What’s more likely? Trask becomes a starter in this league, Tampa or another team or Trask is out of this league by 2026

I have no idea, but, honestly, if he gets a chance to start, he'll be a long time starter in the league. All depends on getting that chance. I've seen us screw up enough over the years on QB's that I would at least like to see if we can get payback on that 2nd round pick, because if he can start and play good enough, we won't have to play Russian roulette with our first round pick on yet another 1st round QB (we've had 5 over the decades, and they all failed to pan out for us, though Doug Williams did get us to the NFC Championship game - but we've been cursed at the spot since), and instead use those picks to get stud players at positions that we need besides QB.
I don't know whether or not Trask will be a good QB in the NFL, but I do know that Mayfield is awful, and the Bucs are going nowhere with him at QB.How convenient with your not able to prove hypothetical

If the Bucs are picking #7 or better in the draft does anyone think they pass on a QB because of Trask or Mayfield?
unlikely?

oh interesting take. Define “chance to start”
does that include if he starts 2-3 games this season when Bucs or out of it or does that mean give a full offseason as starter as in 2024?
I’ve noticed a trait amongst the greatest qbs ever…they all have a quick release. Look at Mahomes now, he has this like instant flicking of the ball and it’s definitely part of his success. I remember Jameis and how highly touted he was coming out of college, at that time people were calling him a generational talent…he had a slow wind up and a ton of interceptions. Out of curiosity, can anyone name a true great QB with a slow release?
back to Trask, is he quick release or slow. I’m too lazy to YouTube clips right now.

Trask worked on his release mechanics this past offseason, so his release is quicker than it was in college. I just watched his highlights against the Jets and then watched a 2022 Mahommes highlight video to get a sense of the release speed. Mahommes is faster, but your talking maybe a tenth of a second at most. I would equate Trask's current release to being above average, but not at the top. Certainly fast enough, which he showed against the Jets on several plays where he had to make the throw on the run after getting flushed from the pocket. I think the things the greats truly had over the others is the ability to accurately read defenses pre and post snap and quickly go through their progressions. This is the one aspect I saw in Trask in college that got my attention immediately when he came in for Franks, who did not possess these traits (and isn't a QB in the NFL because of that).
I think Trask's floor in the NFL is solid average starter. I think his ceiling is lower top tier if he can adapt to the speed of the NFL game and the disguises that NFL defenses use, as he did in college, where he was pretty much lighting up everyone until he got to the bowl game in 2021 without any of his starting receiving threats, including Pitts. Getting to that level, however, requires playing time.

Imagine a world where Drew Bledsoe doesn't get hurt, and Tom Brady never gets a "chance to start". I realize that thinking is hard for you, but the league is littered with players that didn't get a chance to start on one team, but got that chance somewhere else and turned into a very good, or even great player. Think about how many players sat on the bench, only to get their chance due to an injury and star, becoming better than the starter they replaced in many cases. Just look at Shaq's career, for example. I have news for you, if NFL coaches and GM's knew with certainty which players would be good or not, we wouldn't have draft busts and teams wouldn't suck for years trying to acquire enough talent to actually win games. The QB position is singular and is the toughest nut to crack. If Trask is given a few games, say 5 or more, to start, I believe he'll show himself to be starter material in the NFL. Again, we won't know, however, unless he actually gets that chance. Imagine how stupid you, and a number of other people here, would feel if Trask never gets a start here, and goes to a QB needy team, starts, and takes them to the playoffs. You'll feel pretty dumb then, won't you? Instead of making a statement you can't back-up, just tell us you don't believe he's starter material, but be honest an say you also don't know that for a fact...because you don't. Just like I don't know for a fact that he is.
The bottom line is, he needs to play the last few games so the team know if they need to draft a QB or not. If they don't and we still end up with a relatively high pick, we could potentially trade down and pick up a number of extra picks to help fill the holes in this team. Imagine if we draft a QB only to have him bust out while Trask goes somewhere else and plays lights out? That would seriously suck.
So 5 games? Great.
root like hell Bucs lose today because I think at that point Trask will be in
bucs will be all but eliminated and I think it will be directed from front office to put in Trask
I agree that if basically out of it makes sense to play him a few games. Where I’m argumentative is those thinking he would be better than mayfield and those thinking we can save this season with him.
i just don’t see that given the body of work or one incompetent pass lmao. I think it’s almost certain he will get a few starts this year. Not sure about 5 though.
that being said buc fans will come away from the season wanting to draft a QB in the first round. (Totally ignoring shit offensive line, and thus the cycle continues)
If the Bucs can't beat the Panthers it is time to see what Trask can do. Not a slight againt Mayfield but that is the reality of the situation.

agreed
hell, they should have gave Trask a series in the colts game after mayfield injury.
