Basically the same run as last year but vs a much easier schedule.

Well again, I hope the Bucs crush it BUT a few BIG potential differences:

GODWIN.  A change by Canales plays a part but Godwin is the BIG big player in that run.  He's the one moving the chains, especially that GB game, and making key blocks.  No Godwin and injured Evans, at best

OTTON - he get some things going during that run, but that is got to be at least partly because Godwin and Evans are on the filed

DEAN & DAVIS. - they both play big parts down the end.  Right now McCollum and Dean are injured

ILB -  LVD is older and playing massive snaps and more importantly the Bucs are sort of exposed up the middle (unless they figure it out)

EXPECTATIONS  -- last season the Bucs are sort of playing with house money. This season is about saving jobs and living up to expectations

WIRFS . .  WIRFS

On the other side we have weaker opponents maybe and better running, so  . .  I guess we will see. Hard to UNDERSTATE the impact of no Godwin, especially if Evans is basically playing with one leg.

need Diaby to come to life

I think this team is much better than last year. Difference is we've played a ridiculous schedule, both in terms of teams and timing. (short weeks, etc)

actually quite impressed how close they kept it with Chiefs and 49ers without any receivers.  Need Mike Evans back in a big way.  No reason, we shouldnt beat the Giants by 2 touchdowns this week. Favored by 5.5 on the road.

I’ll also ask again, not because I didn’t get an answer (or don’t know it), but because it reveals the reality of the “ask”: how many times have the Buccaneers won 6 games in the regular season?

They don't have to win 6 in a row. They have win 3 in a row vs dead teams, Chargers game, then win 3 in a row vs dead teams.

I didn’t say 6 in a row…

We knew the bucs schedule would be tougher than last year's which is why we had them hovering around .500 or below it before the bye week.  Just have to finish strong with Nov and Dec games like last year.

That is something the Glazers always look at when evaluating a team and HC.  Bowles has to rally the team again during this time of the year when games matter more.

Maybe Mike Edwards will help - we didn’t have many options - crossed fingers. Getting Dean back should help, hopefully it’s not on one leg.

Point is, if we can get the secondary up to average - it could make that run more exciting!

How could this team be better than last without Mike Evans and Godwin, let alone all the other injuries?

Agreed.

Just average play in the secondary would be enough for another try at a run.

On offense they showed they were more diversified in attacking defenses before Godwin and Evans went out.  Now, it is just a matter of really taking it to the next level which I think Coen can unlock.

Yep.

Also, this is why (among numerous other reasons) Todd should (and ultimately will) get the boot at the end of the season.

Maybe you could teach Dean that back pedal because it is on point!

Where we started --- The team is "MUCH BETTER"

where you are now -- The team will be better with Evans and Dean back and Wirfs back . . in a  couple weeks."

The topic is about WINNING OUT starting on Sunday lol

By the way, the team is "MUCH BETTER THAN LAST YEAR" . .  with our all 2023 world safety playing in 2024 like one of the worst safeties in the league?

"One could (and should) have expected his play to regress slightly, but not to this extent. Maybe he would not be the best safety, but still top-5 or top-10. The fact he has dropped off this much correlates with the Bucs’ defense’s own struggles, and they badly need him to bounce back."

why would a team that is "MUCH BETTER THAN LAST YEAR".  need its safety to BOUNCE BACK?

lmao

I hope you're right but what I saw was a diversified offense with 2 all world weapons at WR and a running game.  Those WRs go out and our TE comes to life (credit to him). The enxt team adjust though we are basically running the entire offense through the RBs.

I am a big Coen fan, but scheming a diversified offense with our 3 RBs and Godwin and Evan and Otton is way different when you take out Godwin and Evans.  And not just for Coen, for any coordinator.  Just look at the Bucs offensive struggles post-SB when the run game evaporates and no Gronkowski and a recovering Godwin

again DEFINITELY hope you are right and hope the competition is easier too

Coen has been masterful in the past few weeks, but he’s definitely been limited in his ability to be multiple.

Evans, and the running game, along with Otton, will improve this a bit - but against teams like NOLA, LA Harbaugh’s, and maybe even Carolina - we’re going to need another WR to step up to maximize that. In the interim it could be Shepherd - longterm (this season) it’s got to be someone like JMac.

…and that’s assuming we get Tristan back in a couple of weeks…and we don’t lose any additional o-linemen (or qb’s…).

Oh, and let’s not undersell Mayfield’s impact this season. Sure he’s had moments of poor play this season, but he’s key to any success this team has had the last two seasons.

So Coen continues to impress and he is finding plays to showcase each player's strength.  Being able to have some big plays from other players not named Evans is huge to keep defensive coordinators honest.

Defensively the Bucs defense looks better when they play aggressively and when they go three safety looks.

Right now the Bucs control their destiny for the most part with the playoffs.  Win out or go 5-1 and they are in.
