Defensively the Bucs defense looks better when they play aggressively and when they go three safety looks.

agreed

unfortunately, one of those safeties is out for the season

1. Lions 11-1

2. Eagles 10-2

3. Seahawks 7-5

4. Falcons 6-6

5. Vikings 10-2

6. Packers 9-3

7. Commanders 8-5

-------------------------

8. Bucs 6-6

9. Cardinals 6-6

10. Rams 6-6

Easiest path is Falcons go 3-2 with losses at Minnesota and at Washington and we go 4-1. Bucs control their own desitiny because if the Falcons beat Washington that would give them minimum 6 losses and we have tiebreaker with everyone for a wild-card at 11-6.

Bucs go 4-1 and finish 10-7 and yeah, it's clear they will either win the division or end up as the #7 seed.

The question becomes if Bucs go 3-2, with a 9-8 record, what do we need to happen?

Falcons would need to go 2-3 which would be quite an implosion.  Let's assume the Falcons lose to Commanders and Vikings; they still win the division.

Commanders would need to lose to Saints, Eagles, and Cowboys

as you can see, it's almost necessary for 4-1 to happen.  Crazy how our run almost ended yesterday

and that is incredibly tough to do, as we saw yesterday.

Almost hate to mention that both Mayfield and Irving were injured at points in that game. Even if they are healthy is tough for any NFL team to go 4-1, let alone when they NEED to.

I do not think 10-7 would give us WC spot, at least not for sure

NFL.com says the Bucs have a 58% chance of making the playoffs, and the Falcons have a 57% chance.

4-1 looks shaky.

We know the Fighting Harbaugh’s are tough, Cowboys are chaotic, and round 2 with Carolina will be interesting.

I think Coen will have something dialed up for Carolina next time…he’ll have to.

Saints likely have us circled too, and are playing better than our last meeting. That one is tougher than first imagined.

Bucs have to play a lot better and be sharper to go 4-1 the rest of the way.  The way they played yesterday they look more like a 3-2 squad down the stretch which is clos to what Bowles has them hovering the last few years.  Bowles job is to really push them beyond ".500 football" and for people to see him differently as a HC.

Respectfully, he only has to show an audience of about 2 or 3 down the stretch.

For now, offenses have adapted a short quick passing game to nullify the edge/4 down linemen component in the NFL (long ball is down significantly this season). So, can Coen adjust, or did Bowles pick him because of an anticipated scheme adjustment?

Meaning, Coen’s offense is good for now, but NFL adjusts fast.

Unless the Bucs are going to spend heavily on defensive FA market, not sure we’ll fulfill all the needed defensive  upgrades needed via the draft.

Im not minimizing Coen, only the fact that things change quickly. Maybe it’s that old “recency bias” but it seems a lot of OC’s don’t hang around any NFL teams lately, especially the NFCS.

Coen is pretty diverse with what he can do on offense but he is limited by what the player can do.  McMillan and Palmer really need to come on strong for Coen to stretch the field more.  Evans can do it but he can not do it by himself.  The running game and screen game is really the new identity of the offense right now and we are no longer in the Arians air it out era of offense for sure. Partly because Godwin is out and partly because this offense grinds yards out more so than huge chunk plays downfield.

Defensively if the Bucs defense just starts look NFL average the Bucs should go 4-1.

Expecting too much from rookies really.  Nelson, and Evans stepped up big yesterday but the Bucs need the other vets to really turn it on down the stretch.

What happens if the Bucs split the next two games?

What if they lose both?

The official NFL data nerds say the Bucs actually have a 71 percent likelihood of reaching the postseason — division title or Wild Card. The math majors at the New York Times insist the Bucs have a 57 percent chance of winning the NFC South and a 67 percent shot at the playoff

Sounds like the Dirty Birds are staying with Cousins?

""Kirk played significantly better than he did the week before and we have the chance to go out there and focus on us and go out there and work on what we do and what we do well," Morris said. "We will do whatever is best to go win football games, but Kirk is definitely a part of that."

What happens if the Bucs split the next two games?

What if they lose both?

well a split and the Bucs are looking good.

Bucs are 2.5 point underdogs against the Chargers this week which is basically a toss up game and will likely be favored against the Cowboys.  This team is capable of running the table but more likely is a loss to the Chargers this week, snapping their 3 game winning streak and Chargers also bouncing back from Chiefs loss; then the Bucs going on a run with Cowboys, Panthers, and Saints to close out the year - 10-7 and we are looking good to win the division.  So losing this week, i wont panic but i woudl imagine Falcons would retake the division lead with a game against the Raiders.

If Bucs drop the next 2 games, then it's NOT looking good.  I'd say we are as good as toast, being 7-8 with 2 games to go, would mean best case is 9-8.  Would need the Falcons to not only lose to the Commanders but somehow drop a game to teams that have quit already in Raiders and Giants; with our hope hanging on the Panthers who play teams tough but fall short a lot.
