Last_Zpspq10Hiev.pngBucs ready to test, rally behind Winston in training camp  Test_Zps3Ar4H1Ze.pngRookie QB Jameis Winston joined his veteran teammates as the Bucs reported to training camp Friday morning at One Buc Place. JAY CONNER/STAFF By Ira Kaufman | Tribune Staff Published: July 31, 2015      TAMPA — A day before he throws his first pass of training camp, rookie quarterback Jameis Winston has already connected with his Buccaneer teammates.Tampa Bay veterans reported to team headquarters this morning, joining rookies who arrived earlier in the week. Winston, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2015 draft, is expected to receive the bulk of the reps when camp begins on Saturday afternoon.“He’s one of the hardest workers I’ve ever been around,’’ said second-year wide receiver Mike Evans, who set a franchise record with 12 TD catches last season. “I think Jameis will do fine.’’Winston also has impressed defensive teammates with his low-key approach during OTA sessions.“Great leader, great young guy,’’ said strong-side linebacker Danny Lansanah. “He’s been the first one in, always making jokes. You can tell he has that work ethic. One time we were done and Jameis is still out there with his coach, four hours later, going through his progressions — that speaks volumes for a young guy.’’Tampa Bay’s defense is determined to push the former Florida State standout.“He’s going to be tested in this camp,’’ said free agent defensive end George Johnson, in his second stint with the Bucs after posting six sacks for the Lions in 2014. “We feel we’re going to be the best team to give Jameis a test. When we give him our all, he’s going to get better.’’Veteran cornerback Alterraun Verner can’t wait to show Winston the challenges NFL defenses can present, especially for a rookie quarterback.“You can tell he wants perfection,’’ Verner said, “and I’ve been very pleased by him. It’s my job to try and give him as much hell now, so it’ll be easier for Jameis during the season.’’ [email protected](813) 259-7833Twitter: @IKaufmanTBO
